I got written up for saying poop. It was one of those nights and instead of saying” large, hard bm” I said “poop”. I just didn’t think it was a big deal. But apparently it was. The DON printed up my nurses note and explained why it was unprofessional.

This is weirding me out. This is a place that can’t keep nurses btw.

LOL. Yeah, it's not very official sounding, but at least you didn't use *** ?

While not the best wording, Emergent is right, better than another word. And this explains one reason why staff isn't staying. I'm mean, geez, focus on things that directly affect patient care

Get written up for it is silly. Writing it in a note was silly as well.

Yes I know I wrote a  silly word in the nurses note but that was a very stressful night. As a matter of fact, it was Christmas Eve

Abraham Lincoln said something along the lines of, "Nearly anyone can stand adversity. If you truly want to test an individual's character, give them power".

Couple an individual's feeling of power along with the inability to prioritize, plus one of the two basic emotions of fear, and micromanaging becomes an understandable behavior.

To paraphrase Hoosier, "Poop happens".

On January 8, 1992, a supervisor at the state hospital wrote me up for my "childish behavior".

I noted this in a journal and added, "And it was Elvis' birthday, no less!"

Well, did you at least chart large, hard ”poop”?

The DON actually printed your note so they could show it to you instead of simply reminding you to use standardized medical/nursing terms when charting. Yeah, your DON sounds rather anal.. One might call them a rather crappy boss..

I have to agree, saying the word poop on a legal document is not professional, but I don't think you should have been written up. Maybe  verbal. If it was a written 24 hr, yeah maybe but not on an electronic record.
