and sadly, this is just a pre-req class to get into anatomy, physiology and microbio! I'm seriously struggling to comprehend and keep up with the class. I'm confusing myself with all the terms and different mathematical formulas, equations, etc. unfortunately, I can't do tutoring since I work full time during the day. can anyone please share any helpful studying tips?

I was well educated and fairly intelligent when I went for a second degree in nursing, but didn't have any background in chemistry, and only the most basic foundation in math, which I'd always hated. I survived chemistry because my husband is a major math whiz and he helped me with the equations (which in retrospect weren't THAT hard, but seemed very intimidating at the time), and the rest just took lots of drilling, reading, re-reading, etc. You may have to MAKE time for some kind of outside help if you want to pass.
I was lucky in that I wasn't working at the time I did my pre-reqs. You are going to have to work even harder to carve out enough time to do well in something that is challenging for you.
I was a big note cards person. You write down questions on a note card and put the answer on the back. You test yourself over and over. As you begin to answer the questions easily, you remove that card from the stack. Eventually you can answer every question. Before the test, you go over the whole stack again and again.
That's how I studied every subject.

Does your school have tutoring services/students willing to tutor?
YouTube also helped a lot.

Khan Academy got me through 3 semesters of chemistry. I can't say enough good things about them. It's free, too :)
SopranoKris, RN thank you so much for sharing! i just downloaded the app and i'm impressed with how clear the explanations are! thank you thank you thank you!
You're very welcome! They are wonderful for math & science courses. If you have to take Statistics for your BSN, you'll learn a lot from them as well. I would have never made it through Organic Chemistry without their amazing explanations.
Best of luck to you :)
