Does anyone have experience working 2 full time (36/37.5 hour) nursing jobs at the same time? Have you run into any problems with scheduling? I am looking to work 6 nights a week as a nurse, and I know I can handle the hours, but wondered if anyone had any experience working two jobs like that. Was it for the same employer, or 2 different employers?
I know an RN who works full time in the hospital and full time in the jail! Apparently, because the nature of each job is so different, it's do-able. When I was younger a lot of full time RNs also worked extra shifts via an agency, including myself, but the second job was part time. Agency work can be lucrative, especially if you're offered shifts on the holidays.
All you can do is give it a try and see how it goes! Make sure you get your rest, eat healthy, and take care of yourself if you get sick you may never recover. lol. But hey I like your ambition! I wish you the best, make sure you take your vaca days and REST.
Could you maybe pick up a travel or agency assignment just to try it out for a few weeks before commiting?
This is a pet peeve of mine. I understand the need to do this for some people. $$$$$ but think about how it, how fair is it to one place when you are calling off or getting sick all the time or coming to work late because of the other job?
A PP mentioned being able to do this because the other job she was management and had flexible hours...this is great! but for the most part, why do I need to always wait around for my releif nurse to show up because she got caught up at her other job or is sitting in traffic?
Yeah, I turned this into a ven....sorry.

The reason I originally asked is this. My plan is to go to med school without debt, and I am going to be a nurse for three years first. Also, several nurses I work with who are in their 50's do this every week. They think it's great. Like me, they don't have much social life, are single, so it's pretty much, sleep eat work almost every day, but it pays off. BTW, there are nursing jobs here in IL.
