I just gradurated in june of this yr as an LPN, Would love to go on to RN school, but not sure because of my age. Does any one know anything about this bridge program LPN to RN and how long it takes and if you can do this on line in one yr. I have my first job as a LPN in a Nursing care facility full time, Just wondering if I should take the time and money and move forward when I have maybe 15 yrs to work.
Debating on what to do!!
Dude, I've got classmates that are 52+ right now, trust me it's not a problem! Especially since you've already gotten your LPN (Congratulations! ). I'm not sure about other states, but I believe here in NC you just have to take the last couple semesters of RN school to go from LPN to RN, where here we do Psych and ICU rotations. You've come too far to slow down, don't stop now!
You can go through Excelsior.edu and if you have any generals to finish take them through a community college or CLEP classes. Then taking Nursing Class 1, Class 2 is withheld b/c you are an LPN; pay to enroll in the college and work on Nursing Class 3-7 at your own pace. You can do it. Take breaks to "smell the roses and treat yourself" then you'll feel better when you return to your studying. You will do fine; I think the same of myself and I'm 48.
Right now I'm in a Nursing program & we just finished Ob & now we're in Peeds. You know, I have felt two old too. And I would say that I'm two old alot at clinical & you know what these young girls have said two me?
You're not old!!! That made me feel so accepted by them. And also, you know it didn't help my case that I wasn't in their class from the gitgo when they started, so it was somewhat difficult to feel they accepted me, but I feel they have.
I call the youngest one all the time, she's 22 has a good head on her shoulders & been talkin with her alot. I say go for it, for age is just a ###. If you feel you want it bad enough, then do it. You only live once.
