I have seen numerous posts about being needing to be flexible, and maybe having to move out of state to find work. However, as I search the different states it seems that it is much the same all over. My family and I are willing to move in order to find work, but the big question is...where???Anyone out there know of any states/cities that are in need of RN's right now? Doesn't matter if it is in the north, south, east, west, or mid-west. Thanks!

I think though that you will need to stay away from the larger cities, as those areas already have many nursing schools as well as grads moving from out of state and only looking for work once they land. I am a new grad in California and am waiting for my Texas license as we speak. I haven't given up on Cali yet (I just graduated in May) but if I don't have anything lined up by September I'm going to start applying in Texas. The process for applying for Texas licensure by endorsement is pretty streamlined. Where do you live now?

These are usually small, rural hospitals that aren't as attractive to applicants because of their location. One of my friends works in one in Texas and absolutely loves it and the surrounding community.

handyrn 1 Article; 207 Posts Aug 15, 2011 The area I live in in Texas has big need. The three hospitals within 50 miles of my house are hiring. I just landed a great job in one of them. Also, one of the hospitals, Val Verde Regional, in Del Rio, Texas is giving $24K sign on bonuses.I think the problem is that the three towns are small. Also, they are border towns.Look on indeed.com for jobs. Someone posted that site here once and I love it! It's a great site.

I am from New Jersey near Philadelphia, and as you could imagine we are saturated with nursing schools as well as tons of new grads looking for jobs. I am actually still a student. I will graduate in May 2012. I know that things can change by that point, but I realize that it would have to change a LOT to accommodate so many new grads.I am hoping to find a job around here. However, my wife and I have decided that we are willing to relocate pretty much any where. Thanks again!
Jenni811, RN 1,032 Posts Specializes in Intermediate care. Has 3 years experience. Aug 15, 2011 our hospital has been hiring a lot latley. i know there are quite a few positions open in midwest area. Look in the milwaukee/Kenosha/Racine area of Wisconsin. there was quite a lot open, great area to live if you live in a suburb of the city. As far as Minnesota, look in the Rochester area. Kind of on a hiring surplus right now...don't know whats going on with all these positions opening up, but can't complain for more nurses :)im from wisconsin so i know about these areas and this website, but check out this website. It is a website of ALL nursing positions open in Wisconsin. You kinda have to search through it because some are advanced degree nurses too. but there are at least 10+ pageshttps://jobcenterofwisconsin.com/Presentation/JobSeekers/JobOrderList.aspx?kwords=registered+nurse&onet=&loc=&edu=&shft=&ww=&wd=&tbsel=N&STCode=&NCRCCode=

One of the oldest tricks in the HR books is to list positions to which there are no real openings. These are either positions that will be filled internally and must be posted for a certain length of time or they are openings that the unit has no intenion of filling-someone left, attrition, etc, but they must post the position or lose part of their budget. If you continually look, you will see the same positions listed over and over...for months and months...they just aren't true..so beware of seeing dozens of openings in places and thinking that there are actually jobs available. The best way would be to try to network with people actually working in the areas of interest, ask if the hospitals are really hiring. I think there might be something to the rural areas as well. The cities really seem saturated.I know here in South Florida it's very tight.I wish you the best...I just wanted you to be aware of what the hospital web sites do with the listings.
