Will I be accepted to Nursing school?

Published

I have a 3.6gpa and just scored an 80 on my entrance HESI exam. Also, I have made A's in both A&P 1 and 2 and A's in Chemistry. I am taking stat and medical microbio this semester. Do you think my stats are high enough to be accepted into UNG's nursing program?

Any chance you've talked to a nursing/academic advisor for this school about your chances? Seems to make a lot more sense than asking people on a message board who have no idea what UNG even is....?

Good luck :)

Yes, I have. UNG is the University of North Georgia

Their opinion is way more valid than any of ours would be. We have no idea of the size of the nursing class, the number of applicants this year, the school's standards, etc., etc., etc.

She obviously wants the opinion of people who have gone through similar situations 😑

Do you know the amount of applications this year? Every school is different with what is good enough to get into. Unfortunately a HESI score of anything under 89 wouldn't not have cut it at my school, even if the person had a 4.0. Don't get discouraged though! Every school is different. Still apply, you never know! And definitely retake your HESI if you can next year. I know many people who bombed it the first time and then scored in the 90's their second time around.

Best of luck!

And this would be why this message board won't be of any use to the OP; just trying to save him/her the trouble of reading through posts that will have no information of any value. Whether someone got into another school with a similar resume has no bearing on whether THIS applicant will get into this school....at this time.

Even those who have gone to the very same school (and he/she'd have better luck finding those people on the Georgia State Forum) wouldn't know what this year's application contest is.....unless the needle-in-a-haystack appears: someone who just got in this year to that school.

OP: your school is the best (and only valid) resource for this information. We can tell you 'YES! You'll get in, those numbers are great!' or 'NO! Those numbers aren't competitive!' but neither comment means.....anything at all.

So, we DO wish you the best of luck, but that's about all we can really offer. And IMHO, a Good Luck Wish is most DEFINITELY useful :)

"She obviously wants the opinion of people who have gone through similar situations"

Well......not really. She gave specific grade point average, subjects studied with grades achieved, HESI score & wanted to know if WE thought she could get into a specific school.

Her time would be more productively spent by asking counsellors or even students at that school.

Have an advisor? if so ask him or her. That is exactly how I went about it.

It's best you apply and find out.

I did contact my advisor and asked her what the average gpa and test scores were of the students accepted within the last year. However, she said that my scores were "good" and she said she could'nt give me any other help because she did not know scores/gpas of other applicants. So, I would just like to hear from those who were accepted into North Georgia's nursing program or to any BSN program in Georgia. I appreciate your advice

It would probably be more helpful to you if you post in the Georgia section. At the top of the page, click on "U.S."
