As many of you are aware we "allnurses' staff went to Washington DC and had a booth in the exibitors floor.

During our time at the booth in DC we had many people who said they surfed allnurses.com site but didnt join and become members even though it is free to join.

So my question is what made you take the plunge and become a member?

And for those surfing the web site right now, why dont you join and tell us why you never joined before?

I am just interested really why?

I joined last year when I got fed up with putting off my dream of becoming an NP for years to work in jobs that I don't really like. I love the site, all the helpful information, and the many nurses and soon-to-be nurses here who have encouraged me and answered my questions honestly about nursing as a career and what to expect in nursing school.

I've recommended this site to several people I know who are nurses or are interested in becoming nurses.:)

I just joined a few days ago. I joined because I wanted to post on a thread where people were waiting for acceptance/denial e-mails from the same program that I applied to. There are so many great posts and articles on here, I'm loving it! :) This site also keeps me from going crazy while I wait for my yes or no.

:[anb]:

I joined about a year and a couple months because i was looking for information about nursing schools. I was doing a research on google and it kept sending me to this site. I realized it was easier if i joined, so i did.

I has been great, i love getting the Newsletter, it keeps me up to date!:)

Goodness! There was another site Brian owned and I have forgotten the name, must have sat on my reset button, Anyway it was small, like one page and he posted the question : would you choose Nursing again....or some such. At the time I had had it with everything to do with all the crud we have to take, and said no.......then I kept checking back every day or so to see what others said. After 4 or 5 months I plunged in and joined,

I think I was one of his first moderators.....whenever Tweety and I got into the grammar police debates I knew I was in my zone,

We started another screen so we mods could keep track of what we had done, advised or just joked around. One day Brian sheepishly told us he was updating something and our mod screen had gotten lost. THAT was when I truly felt as if I belonged.

I guess that was 10 years ago or so. Maybe a little more or less. I can't see so well anymore and my screen can't get any bigger. I tried using the TV screen but my neck got tired of looking up at it, besides I couldn't watch NCIS and TRUE BLOOD while all nursing.

So, that is why I joined. Sort of.

I joined because I was just entering nursing school at the time and thought it would be nice to have someplace to ask questions that I was embarassed to ask in class. Then, too I also wanted someplace where I could complain to others who were in the same boat.

i joined allnurses because it keep me inform about my nursing career and also help upgrade

nursing profession . I LOVE 'ALLNURSES' STAFF

This website has been a godsend for me! While I was completing LPN school and had awkward nursing-related questions at various hours of the night, the allnurses.com website would frequently pop up during my google searches. So I started surfing many of the blogs and realized that my "awkward" questions weren't awkward at all! Actually, I felt inspired to continue my studies and encouraged by the written experiences of the allnurses.com students and nurses. After a while, I felt compelled to join, and I'm happy that I did! :nurse: I have since completed LPN school and now that I have 2 semesters left to complete my BSN, I continue to surf this website and I feel supported through the experiences shared by others. I greatly appreciate the members here and kudos to the moderators for holding down the forts! :yeah:

I came across allnurses.com while in nursing school and found the random fact throwing forum very helpful while studying for the NCLEX and the forums related to taking the NCLEX. Now I enjoy getting the email updates. Thank you so much for such a helpful resource!

Like so many others, I joined when I was in school. Allnurses .com threads showed up in Google searches and I got hooked on this site. So many places to go, people to talk to and things to learn. On every visit to the forums I can find anger, joy, frustration, hope, grief, humor and a genuine sense of love and caring from a great community of like minded souls.

Specializes in Emergency, medical-surgical,.

I joined allnurses in June, shortly after starting preparation for SEC Assessment and CRNE to stay informed, improve my english skills and get in touch with

North American Health Care, to learn about both health care systems, realizing that although there are huge differences between Germany, USA and Canada the nursing issues are very similar and everyone can take advantage of various experiences.

Visiting allnurses becomes a daily routine, with the possibility to ask all questions and minimize my confusion.

Love that community!
