Why did you join allnurses??

Published

As many of you are aware we "allnurses' staff went to Washington DC and had a booth in the exibitors floor.

During our time at the booth in DC we had many people who said they surfed allnurses.com site but didnt join and become members even though it is free to join.

So my question is what made you take the plunge and become a member?

And for those surfing the web site right now, why dont you join and tell us why you never joined before?

I am just interested really why?

i joined because it is part of my daily reading

i joined because i'm too opinionated to read some of these posts and not respond!

Started out as a lookie-loo. I am a pre-nursing student. I have wanted to be a nurse for a long time and now I am at the stage of my life that allows me to pursue nursing. My hubby thought I was nuts.

I started searching the internet to see if I was just some weirdo for wanting to be a nurse. I read hundreds of posts, actually I searched for the 'horror story' posts to see if I would change my mind. No, nothing changed. I feel allnurses is great for sharing ups and downs at any stage whether it be pre-nursing or Practitioners etc. Love:redbeathe this site!

I found allnurses because each time I searched the net for an answer to something while in nursing school and before, I always got a link to a all nurses thread. I found it gave non-text book answers to the everyday and anything else nurse related. Very enlightening for me.

It took me a couple of years to sign up because I had nothing to offer. I was a student at the time when I did register (right before I graduated). I like to sit back and read the threads and only occasionally will contribute.

I joined allnurses.com because, as nurses, we sometimes have a REAllly strange sense of humor and I can not share my "weird" stories with everyone (they may think that I am strange or something). Nevertheless, I enjoy the nursing community; I lost my community years ago and I feel most comfortable here.:loveya:

I joined because when you do a google search on various nursing topics, this site would come on most of my searches, so I thought it would be a good resource. I am taking pre-req's for a BSN in nursing, and have another year to go to get the pre-req's done. I enjoy reading the real life experiences of nurses everywhere. :yeah:

When my daughter got accepted to a BSN program I did a google search on nursing watches so I could buy her one and it brought me here. Now I'm hooked.

I needed to share the shenanigans that occur at my job... ...before I exploded.

I am about to start Nursing school. I am currently a Practical Nurse in Jamaica. I am going to start my Bsc. Nursing course in September of this year; so a little extra help I figured would not be a "bad thing." That is the reason why I joined allnurses.com. I am loving every minute of it so far and I feel that over time I will grow to love it even more!!!! Great Job!

A google search led me here. I lurked for a bit. Then I was dying to respond to a post on here and had to join in order to do so. Since then this is bookmarked as 1 of my daily favorites. It's helpful to keep me updated with general trends, fascinating (and sometimes frightening) to read about other specialities unique issues and comment on those things I have a lot of experience in doing.

Most importantly I can come here, read something I totally identify with and know I am not alone when I struggle with the issues of being a good nurse and a good person.

My psychiatrist died and I needed someone to talk to. I had been exposed to some of the most unprofessional behavior and I needed to know that I wasn't alone.

After I found kindred nursing souls, I joined, because I wanted to be part of AN.

why not? i've cried with members, laughed with members, vented my gut out, asked stupid questions yet received the most accurate and up to date information, received good criticisms(hurts little), seriously i think i've given up my nursing career without support i've received from members of this website. :lvan::[anb]:
