  1. For those of you who took Micro and A&P together, did you have many other classes you were taking at the time? If so, how many credits did you take along with those two classes?
  2. That's all I want is more writing than I anticipated. I already took Sociology so that is a no can do. I was hoping to be able to take a second online course to cut down on commuting time and the Art History was available, but now it has me wondering. I think I might look to see if there are any other online courses with openings. Thanks for the info!
  3. How many credits during the summer would you say is too many credits to take? I am signed up for Chem. w/lab and an online English course. Would I be pushing it if I were to add an online Art History class too? Just a but of extra background info...I don't work and my kids are teenagers.
  4. Why let them get you down? I say go for it and apply to the LVN program, it is a step toward the RN. You can get your LVN and then decide later if you want to try and bridge to the RN. You don't have the grades for the RN right now, so in order to become any level of nurse you can try for the LVN. I say go for it! If you really want to become a nurse you shouldn't let your friends get you down. Chin up! You can do it!
  5. Great advice, thanks! I am between semesters right now so sitting and waiting for the next session to start is making me feel like I am not in control, so your comments are "dead on" because during the semester I felt like I was in control. Didn't quite see it that way until I read your post.
  6. That is me! My kids are teenagers and will be leaving the nest in a few years so I am reaching the stage where I can now focus on doing what I have always wanted pursue. My husband keeps telling me I will get in, he has all the faith in the world in me even though he thought I was a bit crazy wanting to be a nurse, he sees how badly I want to get in. I just get deflated when I keep hearing just how many people apply to get into 30 spots and it's only a once a year opening. I like the brick wall analogy, I will keep these words of advice in my mind. Thanks
  7. Okay, I tried posting this in the forum for my state, but there isn't a lot of activity there. I have wanted to be a nurse since I was a little girl and now that I am working at getting into the nursing program I have found out that it is really competitive. I didn't realize so many people were trying to get into nursing. The classes aren't what's really stressing me out. I just stress out at the thought of getting a B and blowing my chance of getting into the program. It has been a life long desire of mine to become a nurse and I can't express how heart broken I would be if I don't get in. It's the thought of 'What if I don't get in?' that just haunts me. Is this normal? Anyone else feel the same way?
  8. Yeah, I had chem. back in High School, but I am taking it to bump up the grade I got back then. It will be a good refresher for me.
  9. I am going to apply for the RN next spring. How about you?

  11. Okay, well I have made up my mind. I will just do A&P II and not Micro at the same time. I have other classes I will be taking and one of them is college algebra, so after reading some of the other posts I just don't want to overload and risk my GPA. I don't work, but I have teenragers, (yes, RAGEers:rolleyes:) Thank-you everyone who gave their two cents. I appreciate it a great deal.:)
  12. I am looking to pick some brains here. Has anyone taken Micro and A&P 2 in the same semester? How did it go for you? Recommend/not recommend? I am thinking about taking both in the fall so that I have them both completed when I apply for the RN program at my local CC. They need to be completed by the end of the first semester of the nursing program, but I know that the competition is pretty stiff around here. Would it just be better for me to bite the bullet and just plow through and show I have completed these classes when I apply? Thanks for letting me brain pick.
  13. Thanks for the input. I looked up the college on the NLNAC site and didn't find my school listed. I went ahead and emailed the NLNAC because the school has a news release on their website stating they have received confirmation of candidacy status. The news release is from Nov. 2009 so I don't know if the NLNAC site is updated frequently and the school just isn't listed, so I am hoping someone at the NLNAC can confirm or deny what the college has as their information.
  14. I have been taking prereq's and plan on applying to the RN program next spring at the local CC. I was under the impression the Nursing program was accredited with the NLNAC only to find out.. Quote from Enrollment Specialist ~ Health Programs " The RN program is approved and recognized by the Idaho State Board of Nursing. We are working toward NLNAC accreditation." The college itself is accredited, but the Nursing program is not. I can't get a straight answer from this person. What exactly does this mean if I were to graduate from a Nursing program that is not accredited? Do employers look at whether or not you came from an accredited nursing program? Will I miss out on certain jobs? Does anyone know how long it takes for a program that is working toward NLNAC to get the accreditation? Or even though it will take longer should I just apply to the University which I know is accredited? TIA
  15. I am working on the Prereq's at CWI right now. I just stumbled across a post that got me a bit concerned about the Nursing programs at CWI. For some reason I was under the impression that CWI was accredited but it's not. I feel like I have been taking all these classes for nothing because when I look up available positions at the local hospitals they specify being a grad. from an accredited school.
