Yesterday evening I decided that I would finally have an avatar. Took me 20 minutes to decide what I wanted. Obviously something not super identifiable like my pet, but a nod at loving what I do.
TOOTH WITH GLASSES.
Literally what I googled last night. Elementary school teeth visits make me happy, and I have some hefty framed glasses. (Not because my prescription is hefty... I was a hipster in college and thought my chunky frames were cool and alternative, but also expensive, so I'm getting my money's worth of wearing them ahaha)
I look at members' names and the image of an avatar comes to mind.

That may be true, but I have misophonia, I can't stand to listen to anyone chew! I can't eat or drink with headphones in either.
I also have misophonia. I cannot tell you how blown away I was to hear that this was an actual condition when I first read about it. I hit every symptom on the head- onset around age 12, avoiding gathering where there is eating, stealthily trying to block out sound by covering an ear or making a small noise to myself. Misophonia honestly affects every aspect of my life. I eat lunch alone at work to avoid eating with others, I avoid buying crunchy snacks at home, I leave the room at social gatherings if someone is chewing loudly, I won't go see a movie if it is going to be crowded because I have to be able to switch seats if I am by someone who is crunching popcorn.
There is no polite way to say to anyone "Hey, the way you are chewing is bothering me because I have a condition that causes rage and initiates the fight or flight response when I hear the sound"

I can manage if I am also eating or drinking, but after I have finished, oh no. Do not drink that milk while I am at the table doing school work.
I play music in the clinic, which helps with any noise here.
My Avatar is in honor of "Hammy" , a second grades class pet who went on a epic journey rivaling "finding nemo", escaping his cage only to end up weeks later in a little ones gym shoe. Find the thread "The hamster is loose", if you'd like the whole story!
I remember Hammy. Farawyn called my attention to him.
He was a real man on the town swinger!

I am loving this season of Ink Master. I was an avid ink-less watcher for years, and finally pulled the tattoo trigger over the summer. I think watching all the shows made me super mentally prepared for it, because I sat like a champ for the fairly large rib piece. (bit bigger than one hand when my body is relaxed, size of 2 hands if I stretch my arm up). I wouldn't be surprised if by the end of this season of IM I get another - so much inspiration!
