Why Aren't Call Bells Answered?

Actually, that is a very good idea and I would have no problem giving a nurse a tip if he or she provided good service. When my family member was in the hospital, I became friendly with another woman who also had a loved one in the hospital. She told me how she was bringing donuts to the nurses everyday in order to ensure her family member got good care. Pretty sad, isn't it? If nurses simply responded to patients' and visitors' requests, there wouldn't be so much anger directed at them.

I agree I sure don't like driving in snow, but I just love taking the kids out and letting them play, all bundled up in their snowsuits making snow angels, ohhhhh my favorite time of the year........

It even snowed at my house the other night.......first time since we've been in Oregon that we've seen snow this early! It didn't stick, of course, but it was so pretty, and I ran around the house waking everybody up to see the snow fall. Turns me into an instant 8-year-old, I tell you.........the only negative quality snow has, as far as I'm concerned, is having to actually GO anywhere in it. I had a near-fatal spin-out on ice about 7 or 8 years ago, and I've been terrified of driving on freezing surfaces ever since. I'm glad we don't have snow all that often......but once in awhile is fun!:D

Oregon, huh? I have an Aunt in Portland. It is beautiful there.

I agree, I don't like to drive in the stuff either!

My DON just moved to Colorado ( gonna miss her) but she has invited me out sometime, I just don't know about making the trip though, I guess she lives on about 80 acres and the nearest town is like 30 min away........

mjlrn, you must live near Salem, Oregon. The snow missed us here in Portland. I lived near Salem for 5 years, but we moved to Portland in July. I love Portland! I have such a great job here. Even if it is the night shift, which I have discovered I can adjust to. I love being a nurse again! I finally found my niche! I hope it snows here on Christmas Eve and stays for Christmas. (Then it can go away for another year.) :D

For snow there is nothing like studded snow tires. I have to go out in all weather of course, and those tires turn my little Corolla into a snowplow. I once had to drive without them in the snow and skidded around on the road- decided to camp at the hospital before I had even gone a mile.

Yep, Hannasmom, I live right smack-dab in the mid-Willamette Valley, which as everyone knows is famous for RAIN, not snow. It wasn't snowing in downtown Albany, but I live out in the foothills which are about 7-800 feet in elevation, and we got the flurries. They were nice while they lasted!

I'm gonna miss a white Christmas this year - just moved to Florida. I have to admit the weather is nice, but I miss fall and will definitely miss Christmastime with snow.

Tis thread has strayed far away from the original topic, which, I believe, was a sincere question asked by someone who is very angry at the health care system. I am therefore locking it, before it goes any further south.
