I'm two days away from being done with A&P I, and A&P II is a 6 week class online this summer.
Who will be taking A&P II as well?
My final is today!! Wish me luck! Five weeks sure did go by fast. I think I"m gonna come out with an A in this one. This has been, by far, one of the more difficult teachers I've had. She's so specific on her tests - even more so than on the HESI or TEAS. At least I'm learning though.
Good luck to all of you!

Yes, it is an online class. Lab is online as well using Anatomy & Physiology Revealed. There isn't really "doing labs" in the class...mostly just looking at the pictures on the site.
Do you guys actually do things in lab? Other than dissection I mean. Even if I were taking the class in person at my school, we wouldn't be doing labs...just dissecting and looking at models.
We've done a LOT of dissection, as well as looking at models. We've also had some activities like urine analysis, spirometry, BP, etc. It's been a lot of fun.
In my school though the lab seems to be more for anatomy while the lecture is more for physiology, though there is overlap of course.
My school is the same about lab being anatomy and lecture being physiology with some overlap.
Lab does involve a lot of dissection (you do it pretty much every week)...but to me, that makes no difference. I never really studied from what we did in lab for lab. I always found resources online and used my flashcards and that's how I succeeded.
I think it's really cool that you've actually done stuff in lab!
Good for you. That would be a dream come true for us to get Lab tested on line. We would even settle for being tested off of diagrams or drawings.
Lab is the grade killer at my campus. Even if you can get A in lecture, it is few and far between who can score above 90 on a Lab exam.
The class average is usually around a 70 for Labs. We have 3 100 point Lab exams that are part of our grade.
I took my first lab exam today. (We're allowed to take the exams at any point after they are posted up until 11pm on the day the module ends).
I got a 100!
It was insanely easy though. There were 15 questions, all with micrographs of blood and we had to identify the formed elements (7 total). Our professor had provided us with some photos of each of them along with general info about their appearance (for example, lymphocytes have round or ovoid nuclei, or nuclei that are dimpled on one side and are a uniform, dark violet color etc.). The test itself used different photos, but once you've looked at other photos identifying them, and you know the general info about their appearance, it's easy to distinguish them.
I'm glad I decided to just go ahead and get lab done today because now I can focus exclusively on lecture which is what counts for much more of my grade.
I've finished my reading and notes for blood, and am going to start on the immune system tonight. My hope is to have that done by Tuesday afternoon so I can study Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon (I work til 3:30 on Wednesday, so I'll study after that for a couple hours, eat dinner, study a bit more than take the test since it needs to be done by 11pm).
Glad to see you are making it thru A&P 2. Have you had your first lecture exam yet? What are your exams like? Since you are online you get to use your notes and book that must mean that it is timed?
I haven't taken the first lecture exam yet. As I said in my previous post, we can take the exams, both lab and lecture at any point after they are posted. I'll probably take the lecture exam Wednesday evening since I still have about half the material to go through.
Yes, our exams are timed. We get one minute per question. This lab exam was only 15 points (15 questions), so we are allowed only 15 minutes.
The first lecture exam has 75 questions so we're allowed 75 minutes.

There are some online classes that trust you to not use your books/notes. I took a marine bio course that was hybrid and the final exam was online. I could have cheated and used my book/notes, but didn't. Studied hard, and rocked the exam with a 98% (I love marine bio).
So it's possible to do well in an online class without referencing the book/notes. ;D Plus with only one minute a question it would be impossible to look everything up.

So my plan is to go through the objective sheet and the book side by side and read and take notes so that I have everything that I need for the test. I can take the test at any point between now and next Wednesday night, and the same goes for lab. I'll try and get through the lecture stuff before I start on the lab, and hopefully get that done by the time I go to bed on Friday so I can focus on lab over the weekend, then review and do the tests.
The class doesn't seem like it'll be too bad...just a lot of work!
There is good news though...we were given the easiest extra credit opportunity ever! In order to get 3 points added onto our final average, we just had to send in our availability for study sessions on campus, marked on a calendar that was provided to us via email...yeah.
