Who will be a first year nursing student in the fall? What are the classes?

Hey first year nursing students, I'm starting in the fall and can't wait. I feel like I'm finally accomplishing something. I getting tired of all those pre-req's specially chem.

These are the following classes I will be taking in the fall:

Health assessment, Pathophysiology/pharmacology, Intro to nursing and Nutrition.

What will your hectic schedule be?:eek:

.16 hours of nursing classes per semester! Wow, that is a lot. Is this an accelerated program? As far as the actual nursing classes without the support classes we have to take 9 hours semester 1, 10 hours semester 2, 11 hours semester 3 and 12 hours semester 4. Luckily, by the time Fall semester starts I will be finished with everything except the nursing classes. I am sure I would have a hard time working , even part time, taking 16 hours per semester in the nursing program.

I was acepted to a Nurse Doctorate program and it's really intense :uhoh3:. Just looking at the curriculum makes me exhausted.

I will be taking Basic Nursing Concepts and Health Assessment (10 credits combined) plus American National Government (if I decide to keep this one). Still assessing as to whether I should take anything other than nursing.

I'll be taking 18 credits, and no, I'm not planning on working at all. I would like to, but they tell us we really shouldn't. Perhaps after the first semester's over I'll try and get a student nurse job on a very part-time basis.

As if I weren't already broke enough.....sigh...It'll be Ramen noodles for dinner for me for a while!

I'm debating whether to work or not because the job I have now isn't really work; it's occupying a desk. I can have study time or stress free time but I'm still not sure if it's such a good idea. Now if I could get sleep time:D that would be another consideration:p

I will start the first week in Sept. I will have 15 credits, including:

Therapeutic communication and lab

Comprehensive Health assessment and lab

Nursing processes and clinical

math for meds

Pharmacology.

I guess I will be busy... but done in 23 months!

I start ADN program Sept 17, I will be taking Intro to Nursing and Basic Principles of Nutrition. I'm finishing up my pre-reqs this summer with organic chem, micro, and english comp II. I also just quit my job effective June 20th so I am a little freaked out right now about my finances. I only did because I would get more financial aid if I was unemployed but now I am starting to wonder as the bills are rolling in....:eek:

I just found out that my Nursing program will be 28 hours per week! Clinicals are on top of that!

I start Sept. 2 and my nursing classes will include:

Clinical Nursing Foundations I

Foundation for Nursing I

Nursing Skills I

Health Assessment I

I will be attending an ADN program at a nearby college. :)

I will be starting my ADN program this fall (Aug 23?) and I'll be taking the following classes:

Intro to Nursing (NUR 111) 8 cr

Pharamacology I (NUR 136) 1 cr

I also to need to make myself full-time for fin-aid reasons so I'm going to work on my gen. ed. requirements for my BSN. I may as well while I do have the time!

I plan on working part-time, about 10-15 hrs a week. I'm lucky in that my current place of employment is willing to let me cut-down to part-time hours and I'm pretty sure they will not cut my pay either, which really helps. Beats having to find a retail job starting $.50 above min. wage!

Does anyone else have to attend an "interview" in July? My program has a mandatory 4 hour interview session in which we are required to be dressed in "business attire". From what I understand this has no reflection on whether we get into the program (as we are all "tentatively admitted" as long as we turn in CPR cards, physicals, etc by the listed due dates), it seems it may be more of an orientation, get to know the professors kind of day. Anyone have anything similar in your program? Please let me know. I really plan on taking that day very seriously, thinking about renting a car for that hot, sticky July morning since my AC is gone in my car; I really don't feel like showing up after a 40 min. drive w/crazy, wind-blown hair! Eek! :eek:

Hello everybody i am applying to a nursing school .Is it true that if you wanna do the accelerating nursing program you have to have at least 4 yrs of colledge experience?I have been out of school for a while and iwas just wondering is there someone out there who had the same experience and how did you go about it or did you just took the 4 yr program?Please HElp
