I love medical dramas, even though I hate how they potray nurses...if at all. On Grey's Anatomy, they rarely show nurses, on House, I swear the docs do everything from lab work to radiology, and if you see a nurse, they are in the background like wallpaper. It is very frustrating....and yes, I know that topic has been brought up a lot. But I wanted to comment how impressed I usually am with the show ER. They have nurse main characters, they are smart and great at their jobs. I think they do a good job of showing how hard a nurse really works. And last night was really cool. If you don't watch the show, the main nurse is studying for her CRNA exam. I am sure they are taking some liberties with it, but they show her studying, and even explaining what a CRNA really is to a new intern doctor. So I just wanted to show some kudos to a show that is helping the image of a nurse:up: They probably don't even show half of what the nurses do, but it is a start. Was curious to the people who watch the show, what they thought of their potrayals of nurse. Especially this new storyline...is it even accurate how they show her going to CRNA school? Don't you need ICU experience, or can you go with ER experience? Since I am not a nurse, I would like to know what other hospital nurses think.
what happened with carter and his girlfriend's baby anyway? and did she leave him?
Carter's girlfriend had a stillbirth. The baby died in utero and they had to induce labor, anyhow. She left and went back to Africa, but eventually, he went after her and left the show. I suspect he may show his face for the final season as well.
OMG, love it, love it, LOVE IT!!!!! Never miss one, DVR is my bestest friend. I squalled like a baby when Pratt died, I even cried when Abby left. My hubby does not care that I pick it apart, he's forever asking "What are they doing?" or "What does that mean?"
You should have seen me the night Pratt died, looked like I was watching "Steel Magnolias". My hubby turned around( I was doing that crying that does not make noise with a dishrag in my face) to ask a question, and was all, "Honey, Baby, what is it? What's wrong?"
Sigh....men do NOT get it, lol.
I am so going to miss it when it goes off the air as well
I'm an old ER fan...I haven't been able to watch it in ages. Darn kids and their SpongeBob! (Although I do have to admit that I heart SpongeBob.)
I also enjoy Scrubs...the banter is so much like what we do on my floor. And I think that Bob Kelso and my manager are secretly evil twins!
I love trauma: life in the ER. I was so excited when we were doing clinicals and they were at the same facility as we were! I got a kick out of pointing out nurses I had shadowed in the ED and telling hubby "I know her!"
When we first got cable, my husband laid down the law that as long as he is home, I am not allowed to watch people getting cut open in any way. (Guess we can't all have the appreciation for blood and guts like nurses do.) I try to sneak it in sometimes while he's sleeping though!
