Nurses New Nurse

I got my license december of 2010. I've been searching for jobs for a few months already. Been to 3 job interviews, all of them offering a Part-Time Position, the first 2 were from a LTC and the last one were from an Immunization Clinic. I just submit my paperworks for the Immunization Clinic and I'm still waiting for training. So, I'm just curious, where had you worked as a newly Licensed Nurse?

Specializes in Critical Care. CVICU. Adult and Peds PACU..

I got lucky and landed a position in the hospital. However, I also knew I wanted to work at the hospital before I started nursing school, so I volunteered there for years.

It was tough as heck working a full time job, going to school full time and volunteering four hours a week, but it was worth every second when I landed the job.

Just graduated in June 2011, newly hired on a PCU floor FT

Specializes in ER, progressive care.

Newly licensed...graduated in December 2010, licensed in March 2011, got hired in June on a progressive care unit.

I graduated in March, licensed in May, started working in a pediatrician's office the same month. It's been difficult adjusting to things but I'm trying and I'm grateful for the opportunity.

I got my license in January, could not land a hospital job, started working in LTC in April. I can still look - and eat at the same time! It's crazy trying to find a job around here - everyone wants experience, there's tons of nursing schools and I have just found the whole process so depressing and frustrating. But I am collecting a check.

Specializes in DD, HHC, Med Surg, PCU, Resource.

I will have been licensed a year this month. I started out in a LTC facilty with DD kids. I really wanted start work in a hospital for my first job, preferably med surg. But, it didn't work out that way for me. I took what I could to get started. I worked there for 8 months, then took a position as a case manager for a home health agency. I really liked what I was doing there but, when a small rural hospital called me for a position in the med surg unit I decided to leave and take the med surg position. So that is where I am now.

I graduated in May of this year and was licensed in June. I'm working in the ICU, started working the week after graduation as a GN until I got my license. It's tough, I'm learning wealths of information and I'm thankful for this experience :)

I got my license in June 2011 and my first seasonal job will be at the Immunization clinic. I tried all hospitals, clinics, LTC, nursing homes...no luck so far.

Started in a full-time hospital job, which was what I wanted...no prior hospital experience. Thankful opportunities for new grads were plentiful around here.

Yeah! the same thing goes in here too. Everyone wants experience and when you are searching for jobs, the expoerienced nurses who got their working hours lessen will be competing against you. So, you'll just basically get whatever opportunity that there is.

It was really hard to find work opportunities nowadays, especially if you are a NEWLY licensed individual.
