Where to work while in nursing school at Fresno City FCC?

Published

Hi Everyone,

I'm currently at a regular 8-5 position at a mfg company. I'm starting my first semester of 4 in the Spring of 2014 at Fresno City. Wondering where I can work while in school since I don't have any licenses?

Hey,

I would advise not to work in the program. The program itself is a full time job. Do you live in the area? I'm starting the Lvn-Rn bridge program at Fresno city college this upcoming spring :) I'm moving to the area so I need to find an apartment, any suggestions?

Specializes in Public Health.

It can be done if it's necessary.

My brother works at Red Lobster? I'm from Fresno. Personally I drove a school bus while I was in school. It pays very well around the Fresno area. I worked for Central Unified and Clovis, but Clovis is better.

Specializes in Critical Care, Med-Surg, Psych, Geri, LTC, Tele,.

Options students in my class do:

CNA (there are short duration weekend only training programs or you can earn the cert after your 1st few classes)

Caregiver (kind of like a CNA in a home setting with no cert or in an assisted living facility)

Weekends/evenings in a bar or restaurant

Specializes in Cath Lab & Interventional Radiology.

I worked in a distribution center while in nursing school. The pay was great and the company was very accommodating to my school schedule. Also I had weekends off to study for my Monday exams. I was able to get a nursing job right away after school, and I started the day after I passed the NCLEX. Longevity in a job says something too. I worked at the distribution center for 8 years.

In a hospital as a Patient Care Associate.. Many will hire you just as a nursing student with no prior experience. You will get your foot in the door . That's what I and my boyfriend have been doing

You should check this out too. Supposedly a bunch of people line up for their training. http://www.goldenlivingcenters.com/locations-staff/CNA-SRNA-training.aspx
