Thinking about writing a research paper r/t NICU
Hi all, I just graduated from an ADN program in December and am taking my boards in 2 days! YAY :). Anyway, I am currently enrolled in a BSN program. This semester, I am to write a research paper. I was considering writing my paper on the Declaration of Brain Death and the issues that surround it, as it really is something that interests me. However, my teacher had told us that in a few semesters, when we are in our community health semester, we are going to need to take on a project that involves us identifying an issue in healthcare, and providing education to help with that issue. I KNOW for a fact that I am going to end up in the NICU. It is my passion, and it is 110% a specialty that I will never leave once I get my foot in the door there. With that being said, I have been trying to pinpoint problems that could arise with the NICU staff, parents of NICU babies, or just ethical dilemmas that the NICU staff could be educated on. Because I have never worked in the NICU, I am not sure as to what I could write this paper on. I am wondering if some of you could give me some feedback with an idea for a research paper topic (related to the NICU) that could later be turned into the project I spoke of before. Thanks for the help!

For those that have taken nclex and used learningext.com

For those that have taken nclex and used learningext.com
I am taking my NCLEX on February 13th. I have been using learningext.com and my first time taking the quizzes, I get 70-85, second time I get 95-100. Is this okay? I feel like I'm not doing well enough to pass boards.. I am also using NCLEX 10,000 and the HURST Q-review. Also, for anyone that has taken NCLEX since it was revised.. how were the meds? Did they give you generic and brand name? Or just generic? Thanks for the help!

Has anyone ever signed up for SIMPLENURSING.COM (NCLEX75)??? is it any good?? HELP!
Not helpful. The guy that made it is not even an RN. He failed out of nursing school and decided to make money off of students. Learningext.com is excellent and made by the people that make the boards.

Where to work while in nursing school at Fresno City FCC?
In a hospital as a Patient Care Associate.. Many will hire you just as a nursing student with no prior experience. You will get your foot in the door . That's what I and my boyfriend have been doing

How would you feel?
We so but our school has us practice with old supplies that are half broken. And to add to that we can't do any skills at the site I'm at because the instructor has yet to schedule computer training for us

How would you feel?
Posted before I could finish.. She doesn't challenge us at all. I feel like instead of being pushed into the nurse role we've all been thrown backwards it's very frustrating. She's very nice but is not the best teacher. She's more worried about how our written work looks than how out patients look and I'm really upset about it! How would you feel

How would you feel?
I Am in my last semester of my ADN nursing program and have had a wonderful experience thus far. I had done all clinicals up to this semester at the medical facility I currently work as a PCA at. This semester my workplace was not offered as a clinical location for day students. Instead, we went to a smaller facility. They put us on an orthopedic floor ( we did orthopedics 3 semesters ago- this semester we are doing GI,renal and neuro). Only one student has gotten a patient related to our curriculum thus far. Meanwhile the other students in other clinicals are on trauma units, renal floors, etc. on top of this we have a brand new ( adjunct) clinical instructor who really is not up to speed with our program

Need help with a math problem.
I am doing math problems an am seeming to have a duh moment.. This is an IV Heparin Infusion problem.. Keeping in mind that the normal adult heparinizing dose is 20,000-40,000 U/24hr. "The patient is receiving 500 ml D5W IV with 40,000U Heparin. The IV is infusing at 24 gtt/minute with and infusion set calibrated for 15 gtt/mL. Is the hourly dose of heparin safe?" I have so far figured out that there are 80U heparin in each ml of D5W. Not sure what to do with the gtt/min or gtt/mL. Thought maybe to multiply 500mL x 15 gtt/mL which would give me 7500 gtt/500 mL. Then I tried multiplying that by 24 gtt/min.. I know this problem is probably super easy but I am totally blanking.

Failed 1st nursing exam-Has anyone had the same experience?
I failed my first nursing exam my third semester also. Got a 72.5. Also studied the whole week. Which in my opinion is not enough! Since then I have made it a habit to study almost every minute of my spare time. (Although I still make time for family/friends and the occasional night out). This has pretty much guaranteed me a grade at LEAST 15 points above the class average. Studying only the week ahead of time is not going to do it. And nursing school is not about memorization- it is more about UNDERSTANDING. It's very hard to fully understand that much material in a week.

- Doing a project- I need you! Please read!!
I did not think of that. In my program (RN) we say RN and BSN, (at least that's what students say), but you are 100% correct and I have a feeling I am going to need to post this again in order to get the amount of responses I need. Thank you for your correction.- Doing a project- I need you! Please read!!
I have specific guidelines, I want to find out about the nursing students that use Allnurses.com - Doing a project- I need you! Please read!!
