Hi All! I am starting clinicals in August and was wondering if any of my fellow nursing students would know a good, devious place to get my nursing texts cheaper than the school bookstore? Please help!!!!

Try ebay, or amazon.com...

half.com too or just do a search on the isbn number of the book you need on a shopping site like mysimon or just a regular search engine and see what you come up with.

I have gotten great deals on books here and there this way, but never all the books I needed at one time.

Good luck!

I agree amazon. But shop arround on line for each individual book. Also check the individual publisher's web site for each text. Some times (not always) the publisher offers a better price. But sometimes the publisher can charge more. Go figure.

Type in the book you want & it will pull up a bunch of websites with all different prices. I just got mine from there & saved about $100.

Make sure your school allows you to buy online. Some schools do not allow this in my state. You must show the bookstore receipt to be in the nursing program.

I have never heard of any program requiring you to buy your textbooks from the bookstore. They get you ever which way. Anyway, I have used the following website to get good deals on textbooks for both myself and my son. You can search by ISBN #, title, and author. It will lead you to sites where you can get the book new or used.

If you can, buy your books anywhere but the bookstore. I bought a book for $34.00 (inlcudes shipping) on half.com and when I went to the bookstore they were selling it for $52.00.

I had good luck with half.com and also ecampus.com. Shipping charges were minimal and the books get delivered rather quickly.

Also, try the publisher website and see if they sell books online.

All you need to find a book online is get the ISBN number that is located where the scan code is on the book. A lot of the websites have instructions on how to find the ISBN and make sure you have the correct number. Also, it doesn't hurt to get the Title, Edition, and name of Author(s).

Good Luck!

I got all my nursing books from ecampus.com! They have free shipping, plus you get $10 off of a $200 order. It took them about 2 weeks to get to me, but it's free shipping!! www.ecampus.com

I have had great luck with alibris.com. Try doing a google search under "used books" and see what you come up with!

Just be sure that your savings on the cost of the book isn't lost on the cost of shipping.

Also, my daughter's elem. school participates in a program called schoolcash.com. They give a portion of the sale back to the school. I was able to shop with barnes and noble, pay no shipping and 3% of the purchase price went back to her school. If your kids have this program, give it a try.
