Where to buy cheap scrubs?

Published

I just got hired as an HHA, and uniform is scrubs -- any color/print is okay! I'm a poor student though, so I need to buy them at not $20 per piece, especially since I'll need multiple sets. Any suggestions?

I've seen used scrubs at Goodwill.

As a Wal-Mart scrub buyer, let me give you a tip: buy the ones that are cotton-poly blend, not 100% cotton. The 100% cotton shrink, lose their shape, fade, pill, and just generally look like fecal matter way too quickly. The blended ones are fine, though, been wearing them for years.

My scrub bottoms that I had for clinical at school are from Walmart. Have no idea what they are, but I really like them!

You can sometimes find them at Goodwill. I order from Allheart.com, which often runs clearance items so some can be very inexpensive.

Dollar General has them as well.

I found some at Family Dollar :) $8 per top and bottom.

A bit of advice, when you do have more money, spend a little more on scrubs because they will last longer. The low price scrubs don't last long, fade, and over time do not look good. You will be buying more scrubs. Also, with the first wash put a little vinegar in the wash to help with fading.

I don't want to spend much on scrubs right now because this is a temporary job -- I don't plan on being at it for more than a year at most because in December I'll be done with school and I want to take/pass my NCLEX by the beginning of March and have a job by May. And once summer is over, I'll only be working 1-2 days a week so I'll only need 2 good sets.

I have one or two printed scrub tops that bought and can't use and don't know what to do with them.

If you are interested and live near NYC, let me know.

I got fecal mattery scrubs when I first started working and got an upgrade just recently. I think it's probably the way we all do it. Word of advice, though - buy an extra pair for the trunk of your car. You'll need them on occasion, due to actual fecal matter, not proverbial.
