Txspade,

I can sooooo relate! I thought I had a handle on this, then we moved from AZ to Nevada, and I discoved, not only did I need to re-take a class (for a B) but in addition I needed to have 7 more classes! This is ridiculous! MeanwhileI have my family breathing down my neck, wanting to know when I am going to be done! AGHHHHHHHHHH!:angryfire

Do they not realize that I want to be done just as badly as they want me done? I do not learn quickly, and have had to retake about 6-7 classes (at least!). This is very frustrating to me. I hang in there, because I know that someday I will live my dream of becoming a CNM.

So hang in there...

I have 3 kids and a hubby 2 care 4. My daughter has severe asthma, but still I go on. I am doing this for me, and for our future!

Good luck!

R you guys taking 1 class a semester or something? Y is it taking that long, I understand for transferring, but you can knock down at least 5 by CLEPping (Human Growth, Sociology, Pyschology, Algebra, Chemistry) and almost all colleges accept CLEP as long as you meet the grade requirement. Never met or heard of someone taking prereq's for nursing for 5 yrs, and 10? WOW, Good Luck.

10 years?? Its taking me 2 years to complete 7!! How about taking some online/distance ed?

Good luck!!

Y'all must be going for your BSNs. At my community college, you only need to take about 6-7 prereqs to get in to the nursing stuff. But then, you only get your ADN at the end.

I have been going on and off for 10 years , there have been sometimes I have had to drop due to this and that. I have 5 children (3 toddlers) ,one dead husband, one divorce, and one recent remarriarge. One house burn down and one be blew away by a tornado with all I own. I was able to take a whole year with out disaster and go to LVN school. But now It is time to move on. Now it's more along the lines of making enough money on the weekends to survive and working around the husbands engineering school. Im just complaining, I am finishing up Microbiology now then Ill take Chem starting in July. After that I just have 2 left, Im just tired.

Cherish,

I have been attending full-time for all five yrs, including summmers. I went back to school @ the age of 34. I had to take a lot of pre-classes to get into the classes that I needed for credit (I.E..Basic Math> working my way up to College Algebra) I also have documented learning disorders and am diagnosed Adult ADD. So, I take a full load, I attended BSN school, then was dropped for grades. Then we moved...

I have all my necessary prereq classes completed but still can't get in due to the waiting list. My school lets in 40 students per semester, 10 off the waiting list and 30 based on points for their prereq classes. I have to take another class in Fall to get my points up which will allow me to start next Fall. They have it so you apply in the middle of the semester so what you're taking that semester doesn't count :(

How do you like UNLV? I'm transferring there in the fall from Seattle, Wa. Luckily, I was able to talk to the nursing advisor there early on, so hopefully all the classes I've taken here will transfer properly. I did hold off on taking any of my sciences. I figured it would be better to take their series, their way so I'd be at the same level as their students.

However, now this means I'm going to be taking a couple sciences per semester (chem with biol), but if thats what it takes... I should finish in 3 years.

Some ADN programs require more pre-reqs:

My school requires: English, Speech, Math, Bio, Chem, Psych, Developmental Psych, Sociology, Physical Education, Humanities, Anatomy, Micro and Physio before you can apply.

That's about double, or 13 courses.

:coollook:

We don't have to do our pre-req's before we apply or even before we start the program, but we do have quite a few:

math (pre-statistics sort of course), college composition, writing about literature, student success seminar, general psych and lifespan, A & P I and II, Nutrition, Sociology......so I guess 10 and we are a CC as well.

I just signed up for two more in the second summer session to ease my load in the fall and because my advisor messed up!

WOW! So many prereqs! The prereqs at the school I am attending are A&P, Chemistry, Biology. It seems as if some schools want the student to have all of the non nursing classes completed before they start the program.
