When you graduate what part of nursing are you going into?

I personally would love to be a correctional nurse:smokin:.Not as much pressure and BS. I feel comfortable in that setting, especially being a former correctional officer.I knew there was no way I could work in a traditional hospital setting. So what field of nursing is calling you?:nurse:

Specializes in hoping to be mother/baby nurse.

i am really hoping to be in labor and delivery. having my children was the most wonderful experience of my life and i would love the honor to help in this expreince with other women, because having a great nurse makes ALL the difference.

I have wanted to work in L&D for as long as I can remember..but some of my other interests are NICU, Peds Oncology and ER. I'm sure I will be more focused on one area once I have finished the clinicals.

ER for 2 years travel, do some humanitarian missions come back and finally settle somewhere.

Now that i've finished my junior year of nursing school and i'm already well into my summer externship in the NICU, i'm about 99% that i want to go into the NICU when i graduate and after two years of experience go into a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program.

I've given it some thought and as of the moment I think I want to be in the ER or OR. I'm an EMT right now, and love the challenge it brings with not knowing what is around the next corner. I start pre-nursing in September and the actual nursing part in the fall of 2009 with hopes to graduate in May of 2011. I'm definitely going to keep my mind open through the clinical's though!

I am definitely heading to Baltimore Shock Trauma to jump into their Trauma ICU. After that I am not sure if I want to go for my CRNA or enroll in UMB's 5 year CNS/NP program. Still not sure about that, but I know I want trauma!!!

Specializes in Emergency/ Critical Care.

I want to work in emergency!!! I am currently doing my consolidation there and have never been happier! It is exactly what I have always pictured nursing to be! I love everything about it and the fact that you get every type of patient there! SO COOL!!!

Specializes in none yet.

I hope to be a trauma/ er nurse, maybe one day a flight nurse. I guess we'll see what really happens :roll

I knew that I wanted to be an Ob nurse or an ICU nurse. So back in March (I just graduated this May) I started sending out resumes for those depts. I had my mind made up that I would search and search till I found something. Low and behold my first interview was for ICU and the shift that I was hoping for (7p-7a X3day/wk)!!! Im so excited!!! Now I just have to pass my boards...on June 13th...its getting closer...and I am getting more nervous as the days grows nearer.

Specializes in TCU.

My first choice(s)

1. ER/Trauma (I live by 2, level 1 trauma centers & Mayo is an hour

away).

2. NICU/PICU

3. Psych/brain injuries

People think I'm crazy, but I :heartbeat that stuff!

Specializes in TCU.

Good luck & congrats on the job you wanted!

I'm currently leaning towards pediatrics or OB/GYN..... but I'd actually LOVE to be a school nurse but there aren't very many openings in general but that's where I'd be hoping to end up eventually.
