CNA's: What's your favorite shift?
I was hired for noc shift and i love it. I can sleep when my family is busy with school and work. I get to spend evenings with them. Our facility is very busy, time goes by fast, and we don't always get a break. On the "slow" nights we get to have a couple short breaks. I think I am going to try days because it is hard to find time to socialize or take care of my own needs. It is either work or family and I need a break from taking care of everyone. Good luck.

ER Nurses contracting MRSA
I had ca mrsa pnuemonia, It just about killed me. My nurses didn't wear any masks or anything like that, is that normal. I was worried my family might get it. No one else did. I am still very curious as to where I caught it. I didn't work in health care at the time , so maybe the clinic I went to the day before or the vet office? What is the incubation period on this stuff.

Anyone in the Monroe area?
I live in Monroe, I am going to start the next cna course through regency also. I can't wait. I only have one or two more pre-reqs for nursing school. It just depends on my transcript evaluation. I hope to work at valley general eventually also. There is a one year employment contract because regency pays for your classes.

Retaking Classes for Better Grades
most of the schools I have applied to have point system but you are only allowed one retake and it lowers your points if you had to retake a science for a higher grade. Always check the schools policies is the best I can tell you. Good luck

Very Discourgaged
I was very discouraged also due to math. I took the pre algebra and algebra in 2002. I moved to a new state after taking pre req for nursing and I have to take some more pre req to meet the requirements at the nursing schools I am applying to. I have to retake the algebra class because my placement test was not so good. I was so frustrated. I figured three years of school but it has been a journey. I want to be a nurse more than anything so here I go enrolling in what ever classes I need to open up my options to more nursing programs. I am currently 43 and thought I would be done by the time I was 44. If I am lucky I will graduate from a program at 45. I am excited to be a nurse and the hard work will be worth it. Hang in there, just do it. Good luck.
