What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

We just had a little girl named "Wednesday". She was born on Wednesday.

Thank goodness she wasn't born on Halloween!

I had forgotten but we had a Tuesday 1-2 yrs ago, she was a twin, her twin had a completely average name, and yes, they were born on Tuesday.

I tried telling them a couple times then gave up. if they thing Nevayah is heaven spelled backwards (it is actually hayaven) spelled backwards Then I am NOT going to change their mind

My highschool's superintindent was named Dick Ball. I kid you not! His name was on a plaque in the main hallway.

Montserrat, for a girl.

Nice, I suppose, but she was in the NICU and someone made her a cute name sign. At first glance it looked like "Monster rat"

Didn't hear/see this as a nurse, but when I was an ESL teacher.

A Vietnamese lady was named Me Yume..............except she spelled it "My Dung" in English letters.

There have been bunches of "different" names, but a couple that come to mind include, pronounced "ab-ci-dee," and she spelled it a-b-c-d....easy to remember, I guess. Another one spelled her baby's name, Pajama and pronounced it "pa-jha-may," or something like that. I've also heard Seth Thomas (named after the clock on the wall, which was her focal point), and Windy Beach (first and last name).

How about first name OCEAN, middle name BREEZE, last name CREWS (as in CRUISE). I knew a girl who named her child this--actually, it's a pretty name

Haven't come across any unusual names at the hospital lately, but while working on a Toys for Tots hotline for the holidays I've come across some doosies. There was a girl named "Dream". Some of them I can't even remember how to spell but were really out there. But I think that some parents think it's really cute when they name a girl "Honey" with the last name of "Bear." :uhoh3: It might be cute when they're little, but what if that little sweet little girl wants actually gets a brain and wants to get into management one day?

I can see it now. She's the manager of an oil company or something, and they tell people, "Yeah. You need to speak with Honey Bear."

Poor kid.
