What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

hmm...there was a baby named God the other day. I didn't see this, but sure heard about it. the nurse that says "God was born on my birthday" or "Dr so-n-so delivered God".

That was the original name of Grace Slick's daughter China.

Went to school with a "Tomorrow". I asked her how she got her name...her parents were called over the telephone for the baby's name as she was discharged without a name. When the lady called, her mother said "Can we just name her tomorrow?" When they learned of the error they liked the sound of it and it stayed that way.

I dont know if I believe it but its a great story anyway:yeah:.

A boy named Erin. Not Aaron, like the traditional male spelling but Erin, the traditional female spelling. This was about thirty years ago and I still wonder how much teasing and confusion that child endured.

2 different cases, but both of these were words that the doctor had stated, and the mother said "that's beautiful!"

..... even after TONS of people explaining what the name(s) meant. :(

Just read in the baby announcements in our paper that Spring and Bob had a baby boy...wonder if he was "bouncing"?

I would have to have my name changed to dickson or something. That is terrible. I feel sorry for people with those kind of names that make people snicker even though I am guilty of snickering. It is totally juvenile but I cant help but chuckle when I hear of someone with the last name Butz or Buttigan--real names--I have heard both.:rotfl:

Hey! My maiden name was Butt.

How about Sema'J, pronounced Sem-AH-jay. It's the "clever" version of James backwards.

Or Joel, pronounced Jo-ELLE. For a boy.

Sometimes, it's all I can do to keep my mouth shut.

Sorry...If you ever got divorced would you take it back?

Nothing to be sorry about. I miss it sometimes. It was unique and as long as you have a sense of humor about it, you don't get too bothered. I dare anyone to come up with a joke I have never heard..... I don't think I would take it back cuz my kids have my married name. Also, I have no plans of divorcing :D

6th grade was a little rough-- Baby Got Back came out that year. Hee-hee.

That is pretty cool. He is one accomplished Butt. I dont know any of my family hx beyond my grandparents and sketchy details about their parents. If you are from Georgia or nearby, people probably know the hx. You must have been proud to be a Butt. Unfortunately, I cant think of any good butt jokes, but I will keep looking.

I had heard of Archibald Butt in a program on the Titanic and thought of him when you mentioned your last name. To find out that he was your great-great uncle shows it really is a small world after all.
