Why do I keep seeing hospital workers out and about wearing their scrubs? I saw a nurse the other day(she had her name badge on) eating with her scrubs on in Subway and a doctor (same story) in a bar!!!! Whats with that. Has no-one ever heard of infection control? :barf01:
I guess I'm out of step with the times. I know, I'll be fashion forward and just wear a towel next time I go out!
ok.....as long as you look like George Clooney.
Is it ok for me to wear running shoes if I walk sometimes when I run? Run for a mile, change shoes, walk for .5 mile, change shoes, run......
I've worn my scrubs to the bar and pretty much everywhere as a matter of fact I am very comfortable wearing them in public and havent had any complaints!!! They are my clothes I see plenty of people that wear their work uniforms out after work and they are definetly covered in something!!
I am against wearing scrubs outside of a hospital for the same reason I am against wearing runnng shoes or sweats when not running or exercising. It's too casual. Next people will be going out in public in their pajamas.
I bet you shop at the upscale places too. Well, for those of us who can't afford $100 shoes and the walk-in-closet where we can store them....
I wear my work clothes to work. I wear my church clothes to church. If I am going to some function (party, over to a friend's house, etc) I wear casual dress pants and a polo. If I am on "my time", I wear Whatever I Want! I am not what you would call "fashionable," and I hate even the word "fashion" because it implies exclusion: "Eeew! Look at that person, they aren't dressed correctly!"
As far as shoes go, I wear my dress shoes to church. I wear my boots when I go hunting. For the balance of my time, I wear the proscribed "running shoes". GASP! That man is not wearing the appropriate foot attire! Well they are my feet, and I challenge anyone: where do you get the right to tell me what kind of shoes I should wear?
(pant, pant). Ok. Rant over.

I come from a very small town and have sinced moved. But I used to go to the bank and grocery store in my house-shoes all the time!
Ummmmmm, lets see. My husband wears my scrubs after I replace them with new. He thinks they are comfortable. Granted, he rarely wears them out of the house, but will occasionally run up the street to the corner store real quick in them.
I am currently in the job market, and will wear my scrubs around the house, and (gasp!) to Walmart. They are clean, and I doubt I will be able to wear them in my next position. They are patterned, and different colored than the required uniform at my prospective place of employment. Why not wear them? They are comfortable, easy to move in, and I bought them to wear, not hang in my closet and rot. If I cannot wear them at work, why not around the house, and town if I want? I don't "go out" in them, but for running errands, why not? I am no fashionista(sp?), but I wear what I'm comfie in. If you don't like it, don't look at me.
Every so often this type of thread appears...Look, I will stop and get gas if I need in the morning, run to the bank at lunch if I have to, or pop into the grocery on the way home, all with my scrubs on. Banks are closed by the time I get off and closed when I go to work in the mornings. What do you suggest, I change, go the bank, drive back to work, and put my scrubs back on again? Please! Personally, I think some people worry too much about what other people are doing.
A lot of people who work in clinics and offices and such wear scrubs; they don't necessarily get any closer to a patient than across the counter.
When I worked in the hospital, I did make the occasional stop at the grocery store or wherever, so I guess I'm guilty, too.
Besides that, I seriously doubt anyone who has spent a shift getting "stuff" all over their clothes is stopping to shop or eat in them!

They may not be hospital/health care workers. My sister works in a store where all the employees wear scrubs so that they can have matching uniforms.
