lately I subsist on cheetos puffs, junior mints, coffee, and an occasional meal I'm so ashamed of myself. I'm supposed to be promoting healthy choices to my patients (and my family) and I barely have enough time to chew my cheetos.

First semester I dropped 20 pounds because I was studying to the point that I didn't have time to eat. I looked great though.lol By fourth semester it was all back because I was more comfortable and actually made time to cook dinner and have a meal.
Now my diet is more like this:
On a normal day I have scrambled eggs, turkey bacon and black coffee.
Lunch depends on where I am. If I'm at my precept location, then it's whatever is on the hospital menu.
If I'm home, then it's a sandwich or a cup of ramen noodles.
Dinner usually consists of some form of chicken, a vegetable and brown rice.

I eat fairly healthy-- fruits, veggies, fish, a bit of meat. When I'm lax about my diet, I allow myself to eat anything I want but in moderation. I love love love my lean cuisines. It is delish and keeps my weight in check.

See it and eat it. Then I run four or so miles at night so I can do it again the next day, lol.

This sounds so, so, familiar! First year, first semester I dropped 15 pounds! I was so stressed I couldn't eat! Then, in December during break, I gained it all back PLUS 10 more because I wasn't even exercising (egads!). I started exercising and eating healthier and upping the protein. I do protein shakes when I'm down to zero time, or quick things that are healthy: hard-boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, snack-paks of nuts, cheese, Lara bars, etc to get me by. I've got a gluten sensitivity and am lactose-intolerant so I can't always eat what is around. When I have time to plan it works out very well, when I don't-crash & burn baby!
the worst part is sitting on my tush in class...and sitting on my tush studying!!! I've flattened out the cushioning in my chair at home

I'm in an ABSN program so I'm there all day from 7:30a-7:30p two-three days/week. So breakfast: either a bagel or oatmeal. Snack: fruit or yogurt (if I went to the grocery store) Lunch/dinner: sandwich or rice and chicken. Snack: chips/crackers
Around finals, I eat poorly. I usually gain 2-3 lbs around that time due to my heavy unhealthy snack eating. I need sugar!!
Oh no! So I'm going to gain back all the weight I've lost??!!??
My diet is lacking in so many ways and I can certainly feel it. So I am looking for substitutes for crappy foods. I found these baby colored peppers (ridiculously expensive), they have the perfect crunch and taste great with my homemade creamy garlic dressing.
I also started eating these veggie chips called 'Terra' chips instead of Cheetos.
I'm a stress eater; it helps me think. I love a salty crunch and the melt-in-your-mouth sort of sweetness.
To top it off, I stopped running and working out right before nursing school started. But this quarter I've decided to incorporate 30 minutes of running each day; even if I have to break it up into 10 minute sprint sessions.
My kids are seeing this deterioration of their Mumma (me), and it worries me that they will pick up these same habits--they already ask for cheetos and ice cream at least a few times per week--no, they do not share my diet.
My current diet gives me no credibility with my kids. And since I want my kids to avoid health problems associated with crappy diet, I have to live the example.
Okay, enough rambling. Thanks for letting me ramble.

Ugh, l lost my original post, but to sum it up, I am training for a half marathon so I eat what I want until I am full. And I keep junk food out of my house for that very purpose! If you are getting back into running, why not sign up for a 5K? Then you have a goal to work towards and a really good reason to NOT blow off running. :)

Pizza, chocolate ice cream, take-out, grapes, oranges, homemade spaghetti, mac n cheese, chicken, baked beans, broccoli, baked potatoes, pancakes, turkey bacon, eggs, and tuna fish.
I'm a picky eater (have been since I was kid) and those are pretty much the only foods I like, so I eat them. Never had a weight problem, just go by good old fashioned hunger and satisfaction signals. Doesn't matter what the food is.

Lots of hospital cafeteria food (which is actually yummy...), meal replacement shakes, and PB&J
