lately I subsist on cheetos puffs, junior mints, coffee, and an occasional meal I'm so ashamed of myself. I'm supposed to be promoting healthy choices to my patients (and my family) and I barely have enough time to chew my cheetos.
I always pack a lunch. While my fellow classmates are out getting cardiovascular disease with a side of diabetes at the roach coach I am sitting pretty with a good old PB&J, Greek yogurt, and a snack like yogurt raisins. This makes the biggest difference for me, packing lunch.
I also get up early so that I can make an egg sandwich for breakfast. I try really hard to keep myself healthy and I make it to the gym most days after class.
I let my diet fall to the wayside pretty bad last semester, so this semester I've been working on it. For breakfast I actually have a pretty good routine--I have a small single serving blender that has a "drinkable" lid, so every morning I make a smoothie out of plain nonfat yogurt, vanilla soymilk, half a banana, and half a cup or so of frozen blueberries. I've even added a handful of spinach in them to make it even healthier--you can't taste the spinach, I swear! I drink my coffee while I'm getting ready and then I drink the smoothie in the car on my way to school, or vice versa depending on my mood.
Sigh...3 years ago I lost 65 lbs. I kept it off for about a year, and then I slowly gained most of it back I don't want to gain anymore weight! So since I am just starting out in nursing school, I'm trying to get back in the habit of eating healthy. For snacks, I like to drink protein shakes or eat a Fiber One bar. Or even a small bag of nuts. For lunch I am avoiding ALL THE FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS near my school (and I swear , its about 15 all within a five mile radius) by bringing a small salad. I'm not in love with the taste of plain water, but I'm trying to at least drink 80 oz. every day.
I also plan to try & make it to the gym 3 days a week. And maintain at least a 80 in every class. Lofty goals, I know! But I think I can do it :)
Breakfast: Juice or coffee, a luna bar or granola bar if i happen to have them. if im particularly hungry that day ill stop @ McD's to get a hashbrown or a eggsandwich.
Lunch: I try to bring my own as much as possible to cut down on eating out. so ill bring like-a lean cuisine, or a soup. and some fruit snacks, mebbe some chips all depends on what i have in the house bc im usually too busy to grocery shop :(/ or i eat at the Caf which isnt to shabby or expensive lol
dinner: ive been trying really hard to make a nice dinner once a week. (yes only once cuz thats all i ever have time for , but i eat for dinner what i woulda had for lunch some variation of frozen food, or if i feel frisky take out :)
Anything that isn't nailed down. I am stress eater. Clearly working up to a test I bing....I'd like to say I was so stressed I forgot to eat but that is not my MO. So far I have gained weight. I attempted to give up caffeine but that lasted only four weeks till I had to get up at 4am for clinical.....right back to full strength.

My diet and exercise regimen have been really terrible since I started nursing school. I eat A LOT of fast food now - I try to cook but I just don't have the time to prep, cook and do the dishes like I used to. So unhealthy - but I tryyy to make healthy choices at fast food places like (if that even exists lol).
I've never been a stress eater, so I don't tend to snack a lot. If I do snack, I try to choose healthier snacks like bananas, grapes or yogurt. But lunch it's usually soup and sandwich in the cafeteria, and dinner is McDonalds/BurgerKing/fried chicken or pizza
I haven't been to the gym in over 2 months, but I'm slowlyy trying to get back into it. I really do miss doing yoga at least once a week. I guess I am fortunate that I have relatively good genes and am on the slimmer side, but age is starting to catch up to me where I gotta watch what I eat and exercise a bit more!
