Which brand and why? For some reason, I've tried NB, Adidas and my feet still hurt!!!! Maybe I need to buy those gel soles or something..
I highly recommend going to a "running/athletic" store in your community. I went to a locally owned store and the owner was very knowledgable and looked at how I walked and helped me to determine the best pair of shoes for me. Everybody has different feet, body mechanics, etc., you really need to have a "shoe professional" to help determine the brand that is best for each individual foot type.
I live in birkenstocks and dansko in my "real life", but for nursing, they just don't seem to fit the bill.
I resisted buying crocs for a long time, but finally broke down and got a pair. Oh my goodness, they are the only shoes that don't make my feet hurt by the 10th hour. I also wear the Urbane clogs that don't have the holes on the top. Nike Shox are my 2nd choice depending on how I am feeling that day.
I am in nursing school and for clinical we have to wear all white nursing shoes/sneakers. They can not have any other color on them. I wear a pair of Klogs white clogs and they are very comfortable. The only problem I have is I am not used to wearing a shoe with a fairly open back on it and this makes it harder for me to walk fast/run in them. At my job this summer as a CNA, I rotated between wearing my Klogs and a pair of New Balance running shoes. New Balance are the best!!! I feel very sturdy on my feet with New Balance and feel like I could run from one end to the hall to the other in them! lol Several of my schoolmates have Danskos but I do not like them at all. I feel like I am "walking on wooden blocks" as one person on these forums aptly stated. I would recommend a pair of New Balance running sneakers for any nurse!
