Am I correct in understanding we arrive for Frontier Bound on Monday between 12 and 5, and depart Friday morning. I think I may fly into another airport and drive down as there are several to choose from that aren't much further away than Lexington (Charlotte, Nashville) Depends on the ticket prices. Any thoughts on this?

Frontier vs UCINN, several posts in another thread regarding this....I recall one stating UCINN didn't really have it "together" regarding clinicals...also Frontier basically invented distance education for CNMs, and are nationally ranked among the best, even compared with brick and mortars.

if it has been awhile 4 weeks or so i'd call to make sure all the pieces to your application are in. i called after a month or so and was told my references were missing...so had to resubmit. still waiting.

I started in the labor room approx 2 months ago, love it. Have found it useful for evaluating options for my midwife practice. I'd recommend it, highly. I've found it useful to actually see the midwives in action as well as the ob/gyns. I would strongly recommed doing some l&d, although many go straight into midwife programs. I would never buy a car without a test drive...

I think that all midwives have a duty to use the most current evidence based practice and references out there. Your sister could seriously injury somebody or worse.

I am looking to apply for Frontier for the CNM program this fall but am getting soooo much negative feedback from my peers regarding midwifery in general from liability issues to the physical exams of women. Where is all this coming from? It seems very antiwoman. I really am feeling called to midwifery but the comments have me a bit concerned.

I have a question for anyone who has gone through the Frontier or UCinn programs...Were you able to work while completing your clinical or was that just not feasible?

What kind of nursing experience should I have prior to starting at a CNM program? OB/L&D for how long? Currently have 5 years NICU, looking to move into L&D this summer. Was it difficult to get your clinical sites and requirements with a distance program? I'm leaning towards Frontier. I like their philosophy, history and they seem very student focussed.
