What will you do over summer break?

Specializes in ICCU - cardiac.

I am finished with first year a week from tomorrow and I am ECSTATIC!!!!

I have so many things to do around the house, like spring cleaning, putting away my winter wardrobe (yeah!) and doing some thorough cleaning!

I also plan to catch up on some TV shows (like renting Dexter) and reading some great books!

But more importantly, I relish spending time with my 2 kids! I have so many things planned - going to the pool, the park, just hanging out in my backyard. And there's much needed catching up with my dear husband too! Maybe I'll have a few drinks too, yummy! My brother is getting married in Las Vegas so that should be interesting!

So what do you plan on doing doing during your break from NS?!

Specializes in ICU.

Well, the summer is my final semester, so I'll be doing 150 hours in the CSICU, finishing a leadership course, and doing Kaplan. Looks like I won't be doing much relaxing.

Specializes in Cardiac Care.

No rest for me, either!

I'm taking two courses just to ease up the fall semester...

Plus working.

Specializes in Pediatrics.

No rest for me.

We finish our accelerated ASN program in mid-July, then I have to sit for the NCLEX, so no break for me.

But it'll be over with, I can't believe it.

The summer is ALL mine!! I graduate the first week of June!

My summer plans...trying to sleep in and catch up some much needed sleep that I didn't get during the 15 month course! (if the dogs will let me, and if the dogs let me, I hope the kids will too!), I plan on trying to get my "real" life back..that life pre-nursing school. You remember that right? The one where you didn't have to worry and stress over an upcoming test, one one where you COULD go out with friends and stay out as late as you want to because you didn't have to be up and out the door before the sun comes up to get to clinical on time, the life where you COULD take a long weekend with your "special" person, the life where you CAN sit on the floor with the little ones and color and not worry that the time spent on the floor should have been spent doing clinical paperwork, studying for a test or doing NCLEX test questions.

I am not sure exactly when I'll be sitting for the NCLEX (the sooner the better in my eyes) but I know I'll also be doing some test questions and reviewing. But I plan on and INTEND to have a great carefree, stress free summer!!

Enjoy your summer off!!

I know what I'll be doing...

I start the UA ABSN June 9th.... I think I'll be burrowing in the books all summer, and fall, and winter, and spring, and another summer! :)

Congrats to those that are finishing and to those who get a summer recovery!

:)

Specializes in hospice, ortho,clinical review.

Awesome Amy...when do you go back? That sounds like a nice long break if it's not till August or Sept.

I just start my next set of 10 weeks of Acute tomorrow then I'll be off for 6 weeks Jun 29th.

This year we won't be getting to our fav spot (as my username ;)) but we'll hopefully be tvling to Wi for summerfest...can't wait.

These next 10 should go fast as I'm hoping for it to be exciting and not nearly kill me with the fast pace! :uhoh3:

Specializes in Rehab/Post Acute.

I'll finish my 1st year in 3 weeks (one more to go)--- I am taking two classes this summer (one each session) 1st session is online (pharmacology) and 2nd at school in the evening(abnormal psych) . We're also going to Disney World for a week (cleared it with my online instructor who said that it won't be a problem), going to our swim club every day, and to the beach on the weekends. I figured this may be my last summer without a job (hopefully) after being home for almost 6 years with my kids, so I want to enjoy it with my 2 little boys.

I am finishing all my pre-nursing classes this semester and will start nursing school in the fall... YAY!! :eek:So, before all of that stress hits I'm taking it easy this summer.

I have two classes (Spanish II) but they won't be that bad b/c they will be in SANTIAGO,CHILE!! :rckn:(yeah, I'm just a little excited). I'll be studying abroad for a month then I get to come home prepare for two years of stress, lol.

Congrats to all the grads and I hope everyone is able to take a little time to have fun in the sun.

Specializes in Telemetry.

I will be taking two courses too during the summer. No rest for the weary.

Well I just finished my last test of the semester(specialties) today!!!:D Finals are next week then we get a one week break before we start Med Surg I (semester 3). We complete the first 8weeks from May-July. We get a 6 week break between July-August during which time I will be completing a summer externship in Cardiac Stepdown YaaaaaaaaY:bugeyes:. After that we go back to complate the last 8 weeks of Med Surg:uhoh3: No real break but I'll survive!

I have to take Comp 1 this Summer online, I hate English but it will be a breeze compared to NS! It is my last prereq that I put off til now, I am finishing up my 1st year NS in 9 days! Finals are next Tuesday and Wednesday. Then I get a break until Summer session starts on June 6th. Since my class is online I plan to spend a lot of time at the lake with my hubby and 3 kiddos, sleep in (once their school gets out that is!) and take a trip up to VA to see my hubby's brother and family. We haven't been up there since my oldest was 3 and she just turned 15! I get another small break between July 31st and August 25th when I start my 2nd and final year of NS! I am also going to help sell stuff at New Student Orientation on May 14th and August 20th to raise money for our class's graduation. We have to pay for a pinning, a banquet, and a luncheon. We are going to party for 4 days when we graduate! I will probably also spend time cleaning house and organizing paperwork from this year I want to keep; drug cards, Care plans, etc.:nurse:
