I'm starting a new job, my first hospital job as an RN on the Surgical Floor. I've been at the doctors office for about 5 months now, and I wore whatever scrubs I wanted. I'm going to miss all my cute scrubs that I haven't had that long Anyway, my floor has two colors... all white or all royal blue, and they can be mixed matched. But it's just those two colors.
So what do you have to wear and where do you buy your scrubs?
I can wear whatever as long as it's scrubs. So far I've been wearing solids, Med Couture by Peaches, which I LOVE- they're really thick and have a bit of stretch and there are tons of pockets.
A lot of my coworkers wear patterns but I'm too unadventurous for that. One of the big hospital systems in the area has all the workers color coded, so nurses wear navy, techs wear teal, etc. I wouldn't mind having a set color to wear, but I have to say I'm happy I can wear whatever.

Yeah, it's color coded at our hospital too. Each floor has two colors for the nurses I think... and I think they all involve white and then some other color. The techs are a certain color too.
We can wear whatever scrubs we like. I mostly wear ceil blue, navy blue, or black scrubs. I wear Iguana Med scrubs mostly because I like the fit and the feel of their fabrics. I also have some Koi scrubs. I would have more Koi, but they don't have a lot of solid tops, and I don't like prints--their scrub bottoms are awesome though.
where i work, we can wear whatever colored and/or patterned scrubs we choose. but often times pts are confused as to the "profession" of the staff they encounter, because doctors, managers, rns, pas, cnas, techs, housekeeping etc. all wear scrubs... it can be confusing. a dedicated color code for each profession would help pts determine who is who...
personally, i always wear black scrub pants and dark plain colored tops. it's just easier to "mix and match" in the morning. and i'm not a flowery patterny type of gal! white scrubs quickly go gray... and one has to ensure that one wears neutral or white underwear at five o'clock in the morning also the local college rn students wear white, so this is a color i avoid.
i am old and was raised in a system where rns wore pale blue dresses, lvns wore pale green, cnas wore beige, and charge nurses/managers wore dark blue. whilst i would definitely not like to return to the dress, the color coding really helped pts recognize differing levels of expertise.
