What do you have to wear???

Published

I'm starting a new job, my first hospital job as an RN on the Surgical Floor. I've been at the doctors office for about 5 months now, and I wore whatever scrubs I wanted. I'm going to miss all my cute scrubs that I haven't had that long :( Anyway, my floor has two colors... all white or all royal blue, and they can be mixed matched. But it's just those two colors.

So what do you have to wear and where do you buy your scrubs?

Specializes in SNF, Oncology.

At my hospital we can wear any color but they have to be solids. No print and lab coats have to be white.

White top, navy blue pants only at my hospital. No mixing and matching, no prints. Pretty boring!

Specializes in Surgery/Acute Care/Management/Psych.

I wear black every day.

Specializes in NeuroICU/SICU/MICU.

Starting in April, we will have to wear Caribbean blue..kind of a dark teal. For the time being, most of my co-workers are trying to wear their bright colors and prints, but I prefer wearing dark solids anyway.

Specializes in OR Hearts 10.

Navy or white, I see a lot of navy or navy & white, but rarely all white. Good luck with your new job!!

Specializes in Psych, OB-GYN.

Navy blue bottoms, Red top. One style. We buy them from the med store in front of the hospital. They come embroidered with that hospital logo. Each dept has different colors. Of course OB/GYN gets the weird ones. I just wish it was solid. For the past 9 months, I've been able to wear whatever, and I'll miss my cute scrubs!

Specializes in ICU, ER.

Are you allowed to wear prints with only blue & white? Or do they have to be solids?

I'd hate working somewhere where they told me what color(s) I had to wear or no prints. Luckily, that doesn't seem to be an issue anywhere in my area. Actually, I haven't heard of any hospitals in the country that do this for nurses, but there may be??

I was at one where the allied health professionals and other departments had to wear solids and were "color coded" by department, but the nurses could wear whatever they wanted.

Specializes in Psych ICU, addictions.

I can wear any kind of scrubs I want as long as they are in good taste (e.g., nothing offensive or risqué).

I wear dark solid colors or solids with contrasting trim; I almost never wear a print.

Specializes in LTC, Clinic, Med/Surg, Ortho.

All white.

I'm all stocked up on bleach and hydrogen peroxide..

Scrub pants of any color and whatever top you like. Most of us where t-shirts, a hoodie, our IDs and scrub pants.

LPN school, solid white scrubs with a white cobbler over top. We look like cafeteria workers!
