I was trying to decide if I should get a backpack for my textbooks.I want to avoid back strain as much as possible. Does anybody use longaberger large boardwalk baskets? The rolling backpacks are not my style. What do you use?
I have an Eastpak that I paid about $45. I got it at Ebags.com. They have a good selection. My main advice is to get a really big one, pay attention to the measurements. Some are bigger than others. I really like mine, its holding up really well. However, I did notice two drawbacks. Some days it just ain't big enough.lol Think it could be cause I overstuff it????lol But seriously, I didn't realize how much room the telescoping handle takes up inside the bag. Its not a whole lot, but enough. Also, if I overstuff it, it tends to fall forward. Again, I pretty sure its because of the amount of things I am trying to take with me.
**The reason I like the Eastpak best is because I had a regular backpack from them that lasted for ten years. Also, the rolling backpack I got has a padded part for my laptop. It has a big main compartment (that contains the handle part), then a padded front pocket. On the outside, there are two large zipper pockets. I really like the outer pockets.
My suggestion is a roller bag and make sure to take it to the bookstore when you go to buy your books. I also have a backpack for clinicals and when the teacher says we only need one book. First semester I had two classes back to back and there was no way I could carry al the books I needed for those two classes.
My bag cost less than 20 dollars, Walmart, I think. It made it through the year and looks like it should make it next year. My backpack I picked up at the salvation army for a buck.....hey it works....

I use a backpack with wheels, we refer to our books and I highlight them, and take notes. Plus we get tons of handouts and I use a 3 ring binder to keep those in so I have everything I need with me. Backpack was 45 bucks and has made it through 2 semsesters but will have to get another one, finding one big enough is the problem we use one book that is about 6 inches thick and the other one is a two volume text that is about 8 inches thick so with a 3 ring binder it has to be BIG
I figure that at my age my back is bad enough and don't want to make it worse before I even get out of school
