Take-home pay, also known as 'net pay', depends on several factors. Some employees contribute to 401(k) and 403(b) retirement plans, whereas other employees do not. Some people automatically deduct a portion of their paychecks to stock purchase plans and profit-sharing, whereas other people do not. Many people have expensive health insurance premiums deducted from their paychecks, while others work for facilities that do not even offer health insurance.

I am a new LVN in Fort Worth, Texas with five months of experience. In the five months that I have been employed this year, I have grossed $23,000, which approximately adds up to $4,600 monthly in gross earnings. I do not take $4,600 home each month due to health insurance premiums, disability insurance deductions, dental plan, Liability Insurance, and other deductions. Keep in mind that I am an LVN.

I believe WhimsieRN was attempting to indicate that the original poster was displaying multiple grammatical errors.

Even though bad grammar is annoying, we shouldn't judge the poster based on grammatical errors.

I don't understand the reluctance of so many members of this forum to post the amount of money they make. I think it is something that is very important to the members who are not yet nurses. I hear so many variations on what a new nurse can make, it's confusing. I think we are just trying to be smart, and go where we can get the most out of all this schooling we are going through.

2. How many hours u work per week? I haven't counted the hours, but some days I am running all day and others I have hardly anything to do, so it evens out. I'd say, 40 hrs. weekly.
3. How many years of nursing? Been an LPN almost 6 yrs., RN about 3 months
4. What Shift: Day, Evening, nights, or weekend only? I work during business hours, but every other week I take "call" which means I must be available to come out to a patient's home if there is a problem. This almost never happens (knock on wood).
5. City and State Nashville, TN area
6. Average 2 week gross pay $1900-2100

My thoughts exactly. I have read so many threads and members are so not willing to share the amount their making. It almost as if they think people who are not nurses yet want to come out to their areas and still their paychecks or something. If am willing to go into to debt to become a nurse I want to know is it worth it at the end.

This is so very true. I have revealed how much I earn with the hopes that it will help another aspiring nurse with their decision-making process. However, a true nurse (at heart) does not enter this field of work for the money.
