From what I can see with a quick search, this particular talking point grew out of the original job posting from the IRS. The National Review has an article on the timeline.
That’s as far as I’ve gotten. On a quick skim, I find it strange that they never mention when the job was posted.
The Magaphiles have been fundraising off the information for at least a few weeks. Rather than ask real questions, they picked the most frightening scenario to Include in their emails. Standard marketing: go with what raises the most money. Ask Steve Bannon.
I was waiting for it to show up here. Voila!

I have a friend who is an over-busy accountant and former Republican. She is delighted with the addition of the IRS workers because no one answered the phone (well, practically) during the 4 years of Trump when so many rule changes occurred. Made their jobs in her office hellish. I wonder of the MAGA heads who complain the most are the ones who haven't paid their taxes.

Go for it... do you have some actual facts or just right wing rhetoric? That means that we can also talk about his political opponent. You know, the guy who isn't sure how many homes he owns.

Joe Bidens 87k IRS agents. Read the job description.
Yikes.
Maybe you aren't really paying attention to current events... that might explain the crazy in your comment. You could cite the reporting that has you so confused about these events.

No, not exactly. The "Carry a firearm and be willing to use deadly force, if necessary" wasn't a referral to all of "Joe Bidens 87k IRS agents." This was referring to "Criminal Investigation Special Agents."
From Fox News IRS faces online uproar over special agent job posting requiring ability to use deadly force 'if necessary':
QuoteAn online job posting for special agents within the law enforcement branch of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is causing a stir on social media, as Congress prepares to pass a spending bill that would greatly expand the federal agency.
A link to a job posting for "Criminal Investigation Special Agents" appeared to have been briefly deleted on Wednesday, following online criticism of the posting's language, though it reappeared back online after a FOX Business inquiry to the agency.
A "key requirement" for applicants is that they have to be "legally allowed to carry a firearm," and "major duties" include "Carry a firearm and be willing to use deadly force, if necessary" and "Be willing and able to participate in arrests, execution of search warrants, and other dangerous assignments," according to the job posting.
The requirement that agents be willing to use "deadly force, if necessary" drew heated criticism online, although the same language appears in job postings for other law enforcement agencies, such as the FBI.

Someone from the government that’s not law enforcement requiring the use of deadly force is just a “frightening scenario”? Typical left wing tripe.

They were law enforcement. If you haven't done so, read the link I provided above. For you, I found one from Fox Business News

Thank you for posting, however I was more interested in @MaybeeRN's response; and I must say he or she didn't disappoint

Ummm … taxes are entirely a matter of law and breakers of those laws go to jail. IRS agents are tasked with enforcing those laws = law enforcers = law enforcement. In this country, law enforcement goes armed.
I suspect that the willingness to bear arms was part of the standard agent job description for a while, but I don’t know for sure.
The IRS caught up to me a couple of years ago. I had reported a distribution from an inherited account incorrectly. I had to call them and I actually got a live person on the line and she was sooooo nice. I think she was relieved that I wasn't calling to yell, and I understood I had to pay additional tax.
