Stuck in the 1800 ideologies?

The Republican Party sold out the “party of Lincoln” when they embraced the southern strategy, cozied up to right wing religious extremists and decided to pursue Carl Rove’s “permanent Republican majority”.

Interestng that the only example they can cite as an example of Republicans’ commitment to civil rights for anyone but themselves happened over 150 years ago.

We have LBJ as well.  "These Negroes, they’re getting pretty uppity these days and that’s a problem for us since they’ve got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we’ve got to do something about this, we’ve got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference."  And "I’ll have those n*ggers voting Democratic for 200 years.”

And yet, the civil rights legislation passed and has been a thorn in the side of right wing extremists ever since.

Interesting, too, that you are willing to assert that the legislation was passed to address racist fears.

CRT, anyone?

LBJ evolved.  About half of our country hasn't.

I'm waiting for her argument that the KKK hasn't always been a socially conservative group motivated by advancement of blacks in our country.

It passed because a larger percentage of Republicans voted for it than Democrats.  Try again.

And promptly decided to claim the democrats’ southern majority by appealing to their racism.

A decision, I might add, that some thinkers believe was a primary trigger leading to the current polarization of our electorate.

Nah, still plenty of Democrat racists were left.  Al Gore's father,  Clinton's mentor J. W.  Fulbright.  The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, but Liberal denial by their flock of sheep does.  Do we need to even get into the Democrat's Southern Manifesto?

Written in 1956 to appease the southern racists later claimed by the Republican Party.

ETA: once again invoking CRT, I see.
