My son said the other child's family was furious as well, but had basically been told to suck it up. Yes, these things really do happen, and it doesn't make racial relations better. No it's not curriculum, but it did happen in school, and would have set a tone if my son hadn't called the teacher out.

As far as curriculum, 1st grade this year. After the kindergarten event, I'm sure my kids will be watching, and reading class materials, and listening to their kids comments regarding school. Every parent should, regardless of their race, social class, etc. Not just for the CRT reason, but to know what ideas are being formed in our children's minds and to help guide them through these tough times

That is terrible! It seems your grandchildren have parents that will stand up against this abhorrent behavior. The last thing we want to teach our children is nothing is there fault and they are entitled to others belongings because of their skin color.

I agree that there isn't any evidence of CRT being taught k through 12 and I do not think that's what you were trying to communicate? Am I correct?

CRT as a curriculum with a syllabus and a grade criteria with outlined assignments complete with exams are not being taught k to 12. Not in the way it is in law school, this is correct. However I can see the parallel between what your grandson experienced and CRT. The ideals can be taught without actually following CRT word for word. There may be in small numbers teachers focused on wanting to establish their political beliefs instead of focusing on teaching. This does not mean history should not be taught. However it should be taught truthful, factual and age appropriate. And even if some believe there is an historical accountability to be taken, it should never be taken by the child. No child needs to be told they are a victim and no child should be told they are accountable for past atrocities and never because of their skin color. I 100% agree.

I would like to believe that the teachers in your grandson's school most likely thought that they were coming from a noble place, or perhaps afraid if they sided with the white child there could be back lash? Whether that is true or not I cannot say. It does seem to be a hysteria in regards to this topic.

It sounds like your grandchildren have good supportive parents and grandparents. And koodos to your children standing up against this unfortunate event at your grandson's school! And thank you for sharing your story!

Pretending to be unaware of the Charlottesville riot while posting repeatedly in a thread on current events just doesn’t pass the smell test. Neither does your attempt to draw a false equivalence. How many lynchings have occurred since Republicans have started taking control of southern states in the last few decades? How many happened in southern states when Democrats were in control?

So I was trying to Pwn by posting a factual link that it was the Lincoln Project that was behind this photo op who sent these people to stand by a Republican's tour bus? In order to remind people about what happened in Charlottesville?

Add to that the fact that these political threads get new users pretty frequently. It isn’t unheard of to have some stopping by for entertainment.

As far as I know, no it's not being taught. But after that incident, my kids will be reviewing school materials to make sure that it doesn't happen
