The difference between those rights and abortion is that a life, or potential life ,or clump of cells is not terminated. The clump of cells has no choice and some people take a moral objection to it. Let the people decide in their states. There is no outlawing of abortion.
Let the wackjobs lobby for whichever they please, let the wakjobs say that a woman can abort for any reason at anytime. The majority of the citizens will decide on a democratic process. The more rational idea will prevail.
Still waiting for some kind of documentation of your assertions about pro-choice wackjobs. Saying it over and over doesn’t make it so. For someone who keeps demanding evidence, you’ve presented amazingly little. Such magical thinking makes it hard to take you seriously.
Your increasingly frantic attempts to minimize and invalidate our concerns is making me wonder what you’re hiding with all this bluster.

Coming up with fears of gay sex crime and birthcontrol outlaws. What evidence have I demanded?
I didn't refer to pro choice wackjobs, I made a inference to a comment about conservative wackjobs wanting to execute homosexuals.
Cool. Don't take me seriously. I most certainly do not take irrational fears of suggesting homosexuals being charge and/or executed for sex acts, birthcontrol bans and the best one, outlawing interracial marriage by a black man married to a white woman.
That falls in line with wackjob thinking and correct me if I'm wrong but I do not hear that from conservatives.

And yet, such laws existed in our lifetime. Please explain why it can’t happen again.
You wrote: “… let the wackjobs say that a woman can abort for any reason at anytime.” Now you’re insisting that you were referring only to conservative wackjobs? Don’t pee on my foot and tell me it’s raining!

What exactly do you think Mr. Thomas meant with his comments?

Again, it's a shame that conservatives points out view are so poorly represented in these type discussions.
I have been a member for nearly 20 years, and rarely post in the political forums. During this time I have seen a few conservative members come and go. I'm sure the all have their reasons for moving on. For me, I decided it isn't worth the aggravation. In my opinion, too many on both sides are not interested in an active debate. As a result, again my opinion, many of these threads more resemble a feeding frenzy than discussion.

Sorry … nope, not buying it.
Serious posts are answered seriously. Bull manure gets flung right back.
You, as a rational conservative, don’t get to stand by silently while the MAGA crowd tries to muddy the conversation with untruths and sloppy illogic, then complain when the conversation turns into a feeding frenzy.
I was here when these fora were dominated by self-described conservatives. Apparently, so were you. There was one frequent poster who actually insisted that she was being disrespected because other people disagreed with her. Over a period of about five years, progressives increasingly resisted being steamrolled by Rush Limbaugh wannabes. That’s why that particular crowd left, flying their victim flags high.
What I see here is a small group trying repeatedly to force their extremist talking points down our throats with no attempt to make a real, logical case.
You, of course, have a right to decide when and if you participate in a given conversation … nor are you obligated to justify your decisions. I have always been interested in your thoughts, but you always seem to strike your colors and depart the field before any real exchange can take place.

I agree. Please note that I didn't accuse one side of this. While I think serious discussion is provided on both sides, albeit not equally, I think that bull manure is being spread on both sides as well. I don't think it productive, and while I'm sure I'm guilty of spreading some, I try not to.

Unfortunately, I think this true in many instances. Rather than complaining, my intent was to comment that the direction that some of these threads take make it difficult to sort through, however in retrospect can see how it was taken as such.

I'm not referring to the victims or those whose intent was obviously to stir the pot. I was referring to the few, in my opinion, serious conservative members who seem to come and go.

Again, I have to agree with this as it seems a few of these members have no agenda, other than to stir the pot.

Not my intent to justify my minimal participation. My response was my opinion, offered in response to this comment "conservatives points out view are so poorly represented in these type discussions" as to why I think serious conservative members rarely post, not as justification for some of the tripe that is being posted.
As for my striking my colors and withdrawing. After your previous response to one of my pots I am trying to continue to follow these discussions, and will occasionally post as time permits.
Thank you again for a well written and thoughtful response to my post.

Have you seriously not heard of the Stonewall Riots? I suggest while you are researching all committee evidence, you brush up on your history.

Yes Chare. I really do hear you. I wish George Will, Kathleen Parker and Mona Charon posted here for us. But we don't seem to attract any serious, thoughtful people with a conservative perspective. I KNOW they are out there but maybe they aren't well represented in nursing. And you really do just flit away after asking a question (usually a good one) without really joining in. I'm pretty sure you think I'm an arch anti-military kind of person but that just isn't the truth. Just because I'm pissed that ANY military people showed up on January 6 or that I didn't spare that Navy Seal officer who refused to get vaccinated does not mean that a have a blanket comdemnation of the military. When the war in Iraq began, I started a fundraiser in my department to collect money for ice vests for our troops because I thought it was detestable that our government was not supplying these garments while, at the same time, the Bush family was profiting from military contracts. I always wondered if they got any of the cut from those $300 vests. So please do continue to chime in. G-d knows, we need more rational people here:)
