Something to understand what nurses think about re the Current News and their opinions!

I definitely think his bad mood towards the students was uncalled for. He said his agitation was the theatrics of it all because he was speaking to a bunch of maskless adults while the kids on stage were forced to wear a mask. He's very much against kids wearing "muzzles" as he has called them. I think it's a lame campaign but he will continue to ride on the idea that he kept Florida the "most free state in the nation" around covid. People, despite our high number of infections and deaths, love him for that. So no, he didn't lose voters that day.
I have said more than once, I rather enjoyed exiting lockdown early and never going back. I rather enjoy not having to prove I'm vaccinated anywhere I go. I rather enjoy having the choice whether to wear a mask most places I go, but places that require them like my job, I don't care. I'm not stupid and got vaccinated and somehow despite DeSantis I never got covid. Others weren't so lucky. But it's certainly not enough to make me vote for him.
DeSantis is getting a lot of credit for the booming economy here, although inflation is some of the highest in the nation.
Yeah...I agree that he won't lose many voters because he acts like a rude bully. Unfortunately, that kind of behavior is not uncommon in current Trump influenced republican politics. Cawthorn, Boebert, Taylor-Green, Gaetz, Jordan...the list is long.
Are you concerned at all about the next variant that is giving Europe trouble?

Isn't it sad how these people are working only to create discord and disillusionment with our government as we press to save Ukraine AND avoid escalation to world War? It's unprecedented that the expected nonsense generally heard from the political nut jobs would now be echoed from national political figures and major media outlets. I'll give Rounds credit for even acknowledging the historical expectation.
Quote“I do believe that politics stops at the border. So I try to be careful not to be overly critical,” said Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.). But he added that the White House is “having a little bit of a challenge in terms of logistics and organizing … and they need to be held accountable for that.”
I wonder why he didn't have trouble with the logistics and organizing of Trump's aid to Ukraine. He thought the logistics of providing aid based upon presidential favors was fine. He didn't see a need for accountability there. Isn't that interesting? Has he had some sort revelation about logistics?

In the House, such courteous rhetoric is more rare. Alabama Rep. Mike Rogers, the top Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, said of Zelenskyy’s speech: “I just hope it moves that senile devil we got in the White House.” First-term Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas), who previously served as Trump’s physician, tweeted that Biden “needs a COGNITIVE EXAM now.” Senate Republicans have defended Biden’s mental fitness.
Yep, THAT Ronnie Jackson. This feels so surreal.

Yes, it wasn't a great moment but I don't see it being something that drives voters away from him.
You seem to think he's done some good things. Would you consider voting for him, depending on who his opponent is?

I'm pretty realistic about him and living here I understand what is going on and that he's wildly popular. All the polls show him winning, even if all the undecided votes went to the democrat candidate. He has an overall approval rating of 54% but an 83% approval rate from Republicans. Democrats give him a 21% approval rating but that isn't going to hurt him in this state. Democrats are loosely organized and haven't had their act together in the last 20 years.
One of his opponents is going to Charlie Crist, a local man that I've actually met, and taken care of his father as a patient, and represents my neighborhood in Congress, so no I wouldn't consider a vote for DeSantis. Crist doesn't stand a chance of winning.
But I do acknowledge some of the good he's done. Right after election he actually pleased moderates and democrats with some of his environmental actions.
At first he actually surprised me.
But since then he indeed has governed from the right getting rid of the voter approved right of felons to vote by addition that they must not have court cost debt, his "Stop Woke" act that bans critical race theory, his "Don't Say Gay Bill", his crazy state surgeon general, etc. have rendered him a disappointment to me and most democrats here.
About DeSantis he said
Quote"If you are in one of these corporations, if you're a woke CEO, you want to get involved in our legislative business, look, it's a free country," the Florida Republican said last June. "But understand, if you do that, I'm fighting back against you. And I'm going to make sure that people understand your business practices, and anything I don't like about what you're doing."
I've mentioned it before here about the concept that being "woke" is now used as a slur by Republicans. I think when I mentioned it before it was about Fox News criticizing woke culture.
I'm disappointed by this because being woke means you consider that your ethnocentric view is not the only view, that there are others that have a place at the table. Disney for decades has been a pro-LBGT organization and suddenly now that's a bad thing because they are a "woke corporation".
I can understand DeSantis clapping back against Disney to a point because they criticized him. But also it's in Florida's interest to promote Disney because of it's economic impact which is estimated to be up to 70 billion and he should tone it down.
Time and time again DeSantis has shown he doesn't care for all citizens of Florida.
QuoteIn Orlando alone, more than 300,000 people lived in the city when Walt Disney World opened. Now, it is home to more than 2 million residents. What’s more, in 2019, the economic impact from the tourism industry in Orlando resulted in more than $73 billion in "business sales impact" for 17 sectors of the city’s economy, according to the Orlando Business Journal. While additional attractions have arrived in the area following the opening of Walt Disney World, its four theme parks continue to generate the most revenue and visitors in the area.

Justice Thomas was being treated with intravenous antibiotics at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, the statement said.

The release I read, since I can't access the NYT article posted by Chare is "“He underwent tests, was diagnosed with an infection, and is being treated with intravenous antibiotics,” the release said. “His symptoms are abating, he is resting comfortably, and he expects to be released from the hospital in a day or two.” And that it wasn't covid.

Actually, that isn't what "woke" means, and that is why the right mocks those who say or try to show they are "woke". It's not a slur as much as it mocking.
Don't at all remember who, but awhile back saw on tv some sort of leader of the black community say that if you have to show how woke you are, you're not.

He's standing up against a company acting bad. Disney isn't going anywhere. In the era of boycotting anyone with disagree with, his actions against them seem pretty benign.

Because young children below 4th grade can't be taught in school about transgenderism?

Fair enough but is calling Disney "a woke company" the meaning as well? You call is "mocking", and I call it a slur guess it depends on the perspective.
QuoteQuoteHe's standing up against a company acting bad. Disney isn't going anywhere. In the era of boycotting anyone with disagree with, his actions against them seem pretty benign.
Again, you call it "acting bad" and I call it standing up for minorities. I did say that I understood the clapback to a point, but to criticize Disney for being a "woke corporation" was lame. But I do think that while people are taking notice and talking about it, it is going to be a benign issue and Disney certainly will be fine. They have a long history with the LGTB employees and community. Prior to covid "gay days" at Disney attracted over 150,000 people much to the distain of conservative Christians but the rest of the year they continue to do fine.

I mentioned other issues besides this one. But I will answer affirmative that his support of this issue makes the broader statement. I will confess that I don't know the curriculum of primary school children and don't know if it was being taught in school. I also understand that at such ages it is a hard concept to grasp at such young ages. But I also feel that if the subject comes up in the form of a question, or someone has two same-sex parents that teachers should be free to address it appropriately. I think eventually children should be taught that there are people different in the world that cisgendered heterosexuals. I think the spirit in which this law was passed was not to protect innocent children who are more curious and resilient than we think, but in a spirit of prejudice. That's just my opinion.
A four year old went viral for brining his girlfriend flowers and it went viral. Such heteronormal behavior is cute and applauded around the world.
But talking about others outside the norm is indoctrination.
