Something to understand what nurses think about re the Current News and their opinions!

I'm encouraged by this progress.
I, for one, am encouraged that you apparently are now preferring to stay away from inflammatory language and biased opinions passing as journalism...I'm guessing that means we'll see fewer articles offered up by you from The Daily Wire...right?

"SAN JOSE, Calif. — Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of the failed blood testing start-up Theranos, was found guilty of four of 11 charges of fraud on Monday, in a case that came to symbolize the pitfalls of Silicon Valley’s culture of hustle, hype and greed."
I agree with Beerman on this one. This is sloppy reporting and I don't need for the writer to decide for me whether it is an issue of hype or greed. That speaks for itself:) I grew up reading the NY Herald Tribune and never fully accepted the editorial slant of the NYT. IMHO, they need to be more judicious with their wording. I do have an online subscription but mainly use it just for the crossword puzzles and feature articles. However, I can't deny that they have done superior investigative pieces. The obits department has it's best writers, IMHO. It's where the senior writers go to retire:)

Meh.
You are welcome to agree with the member that criticizes the NYT while using the Daily Wire as a source. The characterization of the Silicon Valley culture is pretty mainstream thinking.

And herein is the journalistic problem: Yes, it is mainstream "thinking" but it's not factual unless the writer wants to introduce his argument for whether the characterization is correct. I wouldn't flinch at the sight of Mark Zuckerberg burning at the stake:), but to offer one's broad stroke opinion in a news story is not reporting. Who, what, where, when , why and how are the only components of a news article. If we hold the Daily Wire up to journalistic standards, then we should hold the NYT to the same standards. Ben Shapiro is frothing at the mouth crazy while the NYT is more subtle in slanting stories by using words that are manipulative but not inflammatory. Just start looking for it and it will be easy to find. If they are our "newspaper of record" then every.single.writer should be a wordsmith.

I don't really disagree with anything you represented in these remarks. What passes for journalism today is pretty sloppy in general. That particular paragraph seems pretty mild.
One can view Bidens COVID briefing today... I only caught end of it.
President Biden addresses nation’s continued response to Omicron variant
The U.S. hit a million new Covid-19 cases on Monday---the most one day COVID illnesses reported in ANY country. Focus was to encourage vaccination. President Biden said he doubled the order for Pfizer Covid pills, enough courses for 20 million people.

Good for the pills. Except we won't have even half until June. And Psaki said still "finalizing " contracts for testing kits. Geez, glad it's nothing urgent.
I'm glad Buden thinks there is "reason to be optimistic for 2020." LOL
Trump cancels Jan. 6 news conference at Mar-a-Lago, blames news media and House committee investigating attack on Capitol
Quote“It was going to be awful, awful press,” a Trump adviser said. The adviser, who was not authorized to speak publicly about deliberations surrounding the event, said Trump had originally announced the news conference on a lark and without a plan in place.
QuoteAccording to a person familiar with the matter, Trump wanted to make a scene and deride reporters at the event but had been told repeatedly by his advisers that it could be the kind of coverage he doesn’t want. Trump also did not know exactly what he wanted his message to be, and his team was taken aback by how many reporters were planning on attending, according to the person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the matter.
Psych nursing not my forte but as a 40+year voter this statement from a former President alarming. Constant name calling, "Fake News Media" , not accepting testimony I'd observed during congressional hearings-- D.C. National Guard chief: Pentagon took 3 hours to greenlight troops during Capitol assault. Nancy Pelosi + Sergent at Arms not involved in refusal. He is unable to let go of being in office as FORMER President. Can't remember any former President having such a huge thumb on political scene post leaving position yet alone shaping an entire political party. Not healthy to our country.
1/4/2022: Statement by Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the United States of America
QuoteIn light of the total bias and dishonesty of the January 6th Unselect Committee of Democrats, two failed Republicans, and the Fake News Media, I am canceling the January 6th Press Conference at Mar-a-Lago on Thursday, and instead will discuss many of those important topics at my rally on Saturday, January 15th, in Arizona—It will be a big crowd! What has become more and more obvious to ALL is that the LameStream Media will not report the facts that Nancy Pelosi and the Capitol Sergeant-at-Arms denied requests for the D.C. National Guard or Military to be present at the Capitol. Their emails and correspondence with the Department of Defense exist, but the media won’t ask for this evidence, or report the truth!
This is the Democrats’ Great Cover-Up Committee and the Media is complicit. Why did Adam “Shifty” Schiff forge and change the statement of Congressman Jim Jordan without any consequence? Why will Crazy Nancy Pelosi not provide her communications with the House Sergeant-at-Arms and the House Chief Administrative Officer, or promise to retain these vital messages, which many feel she has already destroyed—perhaps illegally? Also, why is the primary reason for the people coming to Washington D.C., which is the fraud of the 2020 Presidential Election, not the primary topic of the Unselect Committee’s investigation? This was, indeed, the Crime of the Century.
I look forward to seeing our Great American patriots in Arizona next weekend for a big rally to Save America!

That was the bias you were talking about...the way that Silicon Valley was characterized? It is the point.
