Or you can subscribe. The Economist is one of the great publications out there. Every article is usually well researched and written. And it's always topical and relevant.

So I don't mean to offend anyone but I noticed that a few of the nurses in the forum are retired. Doesn't it burn your shorts that you have to pay so much for medicines when NONE OF THE INDUSTRIALIZED COUNTRIES have to do so because OUR COUNTRY is the ONLY ONE that doesn't allow the govt to negotiate drug prices because of Pharma lobbyists?
What about your dental and vision care? Doesn't it just drive you insane it isn't provided after all of your years working and paying taxes?
I'm addressing this because of an older patient the other night who's admitted for depression and we were chatting and he doesn't have any dentures and an old pair of glasses, because he can't afford either because of how much he has to pay for medicines. He can't afford a hearing aid also.
Worked all his life driving trucks and wiped out with one medical bill that took his house and savings! They are threatening to garnish his pension now.
Yes, it does bother me. I have employer provided insurance now, but will be Medicare eligible next year. What also bothers me is columnists like Bret Stephens from the NY Times trying to scare people in rejecting socialized medicine because of scary wait times.
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/03/opinion/biden-spending-economy.html?action=click&module=Opinion&pgtype=Homepage In Britain, the National Health Service is a source of pride. Except that, even before the pandemic, one in six patients faced wait times of more than 18 weeks for routine treatment.
For me personally I had to walk around with a heart rate of 40 for 4 months waiting for a pacemaker implant. And now I am waiting 4 months for another procedure indicated because of an increased risk of cancer.

You only wait for TX that isn't considered urgent. I'm speaking from experience. Also you have the option of BUPA, a private insurance that gets you to the front of the queue. And it's very reasonable.
Stevens forgot to mention Medicare and Medicaid as well as the Veterans which are socialized medical products like the NHS.

Hope things work out well for you.

I'm sorry that you have to endure this. What we call "patient centered care" is (especially outside of acute care) really payment, profit and provider focused care. IMV
The American health system is a success from the perspective of a capitalist and a failure from the public health perspective.
Apparently nothing is too low a bar for republicans!
You have to read this to know just how low they will go!
I think every business in the state should immediately withdraw support from the republicans or be boycotted.
I expect health insurance to change from employer based to national plan over the next 10 years.
Had employer fee based on salary $325 biweekly as Manager, covered 90% when using health system facilities. Went on COBRA since stopped work to care for husband - $1,700/month (full cost of Blue Cross Personal Choice 80% coverage), then extended COBRA law allowed up to150%,so fee increased $2300/month (no change in services provided --just what law permitted). Now on Medicare + drug plan less than $200/month for myself..
Considering just one of 2 Pulmonary HTN meds, Macitentan was > $10, 000/month paid by employer ( met Mfg. patient assistance income so copay $5), monthly COBRA payment depleted savings but barely touched $750,000/yr + health insurance paid to keep husband alive last 2 years of his life.
Most vaccinated nation with a Covid surge!
Seychelles is currently the most vaccinated nation in earth and they are having a Covid surge.
Not trying to question vaccines, but I am questioning the quality of the vaccines as I believe it is because the vaccine administered was mostly Sinopharm, the Chinese vaccine, that this surge is occurring.
When I consider over the years how many numerous times that the Chinese have sought to pull one over on their own population, much less the world at large, I am not surprised. From tainted formula milk for babies to 50 year old frozen chicken being sold to fake IPhones to cars etc etc with few regulatory bodies and the fact that the Chinese almost always retaliate viciously, if anyone questions their products etc, instead of addressing the problem, I wouldn't be surprised if they were selling bad batches of vaccines that very likely doesn't have the efficacy they stated. Probably just like the Russian's Sputnik.

He's never paid before, why should he start now. And Rudi's bills will be huge!

Currently, half of the American political equation is actively working to weaken our democratic processes. All to benefit a corrupt liar.
