What brand and model stethoscope do you have?
Bonus question: How do you wear it?
I have a Littman Cardio III. I also got it as a Christmas gift right before I graduated nursing school! I had been using the cheap Prestige Medical $16.00 special at the uniform shops through school.
I love the Littman so much! I work on a cardiac unit, so heart and lung sounds are key in my assessment, and I hear so much better with this one.
As for not losing it, I tried the ID that wrapped around the scope, and then stuck together, but that lasted about a day. I then went to PetSmart (of all places) and got a dog tag etched with my name and phone number on it, which I hung on the scope with a very small key ring. I also have my name and # engraved on the bell of the scope. I have accidentally left my scope on the unit after a shift, but always gotten it back, because it has my tag and the engraving on it.
As to how I wear it? Well, really, the only way for me is around my neck, with the earpieces hanging lower than the bell (weight distribution), and it usually stays there when I am not using it unless I have to go into an isolation room.

I have a cheapy Prestige in lilac from the uniform store and I just ordered a GRX CD27 (Littman Cardiology III knockoff) in orange. I've not worn a steth regularly yet, as a PCA we hardly use them but yesterday I had to do a manual BP so I hung it around my neck and it drove me batty! I think I'll try a hip clip and see how that goes.

Litmann classic SE II, because when I was a student that's what we were told to buy. I had one stolen so bought a second Litmann (was left in the med room overnight and never saw it again). But the next time I lose one I would like to get an Ultrascope.
