Definitely shoes! I'm not sure where you are in your program, but with my 12 hr clinicals, if I didn't have good support, my feet and knees would be killing me. You are just fine with the $40-50 Littman Lightweight stethoscope. I have even seen Doctors carrying them around and using them.
Shoes.
As a med-surg nurse, my 'scope generally gets used once per day per patient - during my initial assessment. On occasion I will use it later for further assessments but that's probably less than 20% of my patients.
My shoes, on the other hand... I'm hustling the hallways for 12 hours a day and I can't imagine what that would be like if my feet hurt.
Get a DECENT 'scope and GREAT shoes.
Shoes and socks that wick away moisture and prevent blisters. I work 12 hr shifts and I swear by these socks, my feet don't get hot, sweaty or feel all swollen. http://www.uniformcity.com/UniformCity/Women/PRD_1035-01_M/Blister+Free+Sock.jsp?bmUID=1280888327256
Definitely a stethoscope...that helps a lot when you are a student and don't know how abnormal sounds sound like.It makes it easier to hear. You don't get in trouble for not wearing comfortable shoes but you might get in trouble if you missed something due to your cheap stethoscope. You don't have to purchase the most expensive one just buy one that helps you hear better.
