What shows up on license after probation?

Published

Hey everyone. Just wondering how my license will look after probation. I will have a permanent mark on my license since I am in the disciplinary section and not the nurse recovery program. Will it just show "history" or what? Will there be details?

For Ohio the consent agreement in its entirety is visible. No privacy for us.

depends on if you were reported to BON

yes I was reported

There won’t be details it will just say in what way you were disciplined, for you it will simply say probation. I don’t even think it has the time frame or year the probation was imposed. You will have to explain all the details, because there won’t be any.

Mine switched over from ‘obligations/active’ to ‘clear/active’ but down at the bottom there are nice little hot links to ‘administrative complaint’ and ‘link to discipline.’ Those never go away and my ‘sins’ also known as my personal medical info is out there for public consumption, forever. Nice, huh?
I’ve served my punishment for the crime of being ill but will forever wear a scarlet letter.

Im just being maudlin....I honestly don’t care because I think it’s like bankruptcy...the older it gets the less anyone else cares.

For my state, it does show in my history. But I have a free and clear license. It has not been a problem at least for me after a suspension.

In NJ it says "Board action: Yes" and some general information. Doesn't show the actual consent order. There is privacy for us but I don't know if that's good or not.

If it helps I got a job at the state hospital and what I've been trying to do to hopefully have an easier career is network. I've been going to seminars and making friends with nurse managers and nurses. That way I figure they see on facebook or linkedin that this was a minor issue and it's not a representation of who I am. Hope it helps.

I have a very good, easy going job as an infection control nurse in a LTC facility- weekends and holidays off and good pay (28 an hr) and thats very good in Mississippi. I plan on keeping this job til I retire so I guess it doesn't matter what shows up on my license LOL. My DON is doing the quarterly evals and has no problem with me being on probation.

That's good! I am in the state hospital. While I hope I don't get judged for my minute infraction I also plan on staying at my hospital due to the pension which only 1 other hospital has and the fact that it's one of the busiest and most difficult hospitals in the state. I'm also unionized so I really couldn't all for better.

When I interview (and this is just with myself) I’m very upfront. I know any employer can pull my record. Personally I expect that and I have a prepared response. Frankly, even with a previous suspension on my license, I have shown that it’s an asset to my nursing career. When I’m honest with someone about my recovery I either A. Immediately seal the deal for that interview or B. I’d be Er be allowe to work there.
