What school(s) are you applying to?

I'm just wondering where everyone is applying, for what kind of program, and when?

Specializes in ER/Ortho.

Brookhaven's 2 year program in Sept, and if I don't get in ....I will be applying again in Jan, and also to El Centro's LVN program.

Hi!

I've applied to Samuel Merritt's transfer BSN program and will be applying to their ABSN and ELMSN program too. I am in Dominican University's pre-nursing program, but they make you wait 3-4 semesters to actually start the program. So I am hoping to get into SMC so I can start sooner. I thought of applying to Cal state East bay, but haven't taken Organic Chem yet and I am sooo not wanting to take any more science classes. So I will wait until I hear back from SMC to take Org/Inorg-Chem.

Apply to any and all you qualify for and can afford.

And if you don't get in, don't waste your time off...take more pre-reqs to qualify for other programs in the area you are willing to travel.

I myself applied to a school two hours away...and I would have done it to. Anything to get through and all...and thankfully I had the supportive family that made that an option.

While that is not a luxery everyone has...they can still make the most of their situation with some careful planning and not giving up. Best of luck to you all, and whatever you do...don't give up ;)

I'm applying to a local community college in Northern Illinois...it's an ADN.

Specializes in Trauma/Burn ICU, Neuro ICU.

Hi,

I'm applying to the University of Michigan Second Degree Accelerated BSN. I am currently teaching high school. Wish me luck!

Wow, thanks everyone for your replies! I'm applying to several programs, but might need to consider narrowing it down.

Nathanielandarianna -- I'm also applying to SMC, specifically them ELMNS program, and then if I don't get in, I might try to get pharm and patho done to be able to apply to their ABSN. Good luck to you!

Cosper123 - you are right, and that's my plan! I'm currently planning to apply to seven schools for a Fall 2008 start. It's a lot of work to do so, so I'm really hoping that I get in somewhere!

SusanKathleen -- good luck to you! What made you decide to change careers and go into nursing? I'm always curious about other people's stories.

Good luck everyone - very exciting times!

I know pre-med students apply to average of 30 schools and sometimes still dont get in... so i was worried i may have to do something similar. Is it not the case with nursing??

Also, how is everyone asking their letter of rec writers for the letters?? Because each schools asks for a specific letter, so I was afraid of asking for 10 different letters to be written...

choko321,

i've been asking the instructors in the classes in which i've done well in and have built a rapport with to do reference letters. i just let them know i'm applying to nursing school and they are always more than happy to help. i usually like to give them a few weeks to do the letters.

i don't think it takes as many as 30 times to apply to get in a school, at least i hope not! :) some programs have waiting lists, like here in san fran bay area some junior colleges have waiting lists, but they can be at least a two year wait. i was devastated when i didn't get into my first choice of schools, but now i know what the process is like when applying all the transcripts, essays, letter etc...

I am applying to Dorothea Hopfer in Mount Vernon, NY. I am quite nervous as I only applied to this one school, because I need programs that are offered in the evening/weekend, because I cannot afford not to work a day job. Its a two year ADN program.

i also was thinking about applying to that school but they arent accredited so i changed my mind.

im applying to liu, adelphi, kingsborough cc, bronx cc, laguardia cc, queensborough cc and college of new rochelle. these are all for sprin 08. i also have a list of schools that i will be applying to for fall 08 if all else fails, but im trying to think positive!

Next year I will be applying to University of Missouri, St. Louis University, and Cox University for their Accelerated BSN program.

I wish they offered it here in Chicago, but it seems that the Accelerated BSN program is a fading program.....
