  1. Hello everyone! just out of curiosity does anyone know how many people were waitlisted...??
  2. With any entry level programs, all you need is a bachelor's degree in any field other than nursing plus prereq. courses. Most schools require that you take the GRE as well, but other than that applications are mostly due by October or November for programs that start in the summer or fall... I think the waist list you're referring to applies to the programs offered at local community colleges where the individual is granted an associates degree in nursing... There are plenty of schools within California that would offer 3 year programs to get your RN and a master's degree (NP, etc.). I'd recommend checking university websites directly, or if you want to go to a highly ranked school, check out the rankings at http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/grad/health.html good luck!
  3. Yogagrace2901, I'm grew up in LA and am still around in the vicinity to this day. I'm definitely interested in house mates! I'm also waiting to hear back from the off-campus housing as well...
  4. Hi everyone! I'm also from Cali and did not get housing. I'm thinking of visiting NY some time in may before school starts to look for a place, but Im also very interested in the housemate/roommate deal....
  5. Hello, I am interested in knowing how a nurse practitioner can condut clinical/basic research. Is it necessary to obtain a PhD to do that? If anyone is familiar with this, could you advise on how to go about that???
  6. Hello, I am a pre-nursing student and I'm applying for a direct entry MSN program for acute care NP. I am interested simply because I'd like to be able to treat acute illnesses as well as chronic... but I'm very curious to know why others have chosen this specialty? Also, I'd love to know the pros and cons you've experienced in this field...!!
  7. OrindaMom, Just out of curiosity, why are you applying to both? Is it as a backup? Is it easier to get into one over the other?? Also, do you know if you get into the accelerated BSN program, can you apply to the MSN for NP prior to the end of finishing up the BNS program? I was thinking about that as an alternative also but i was wondering if MSN programs require clinical working experiences when admitting an RN....
  8. I am also going to apply to JH for fall 2008... but I'm worried I may not be competitive enough. Although my undergrad GPA in Biology is about a 3.62, I received a B in Physiology and B- in microbiology due to very bad choices of combination of classes taken. I still have anatomy and developmental psych to take in the fall but I am very worried! I took the GRE over the summer and received a 500 on verbal and 790 on quantitative. What do you guys think???
  9. I know pre-med students apply to average of 30 schools and sometimes still dont get in... so i was worried i may have to do something similar. Is it not the case with nursing?? Also, how is everyone asking their letter of rec writers for the letters?? Because each schools asks for a specific letter, so I was afraid of asking for 10 different letters to be written...
