I know pre-med students apply to average of 30 schools and sometimes still dont get in... so i was worried i may have to do something similar. Is it not the case with nursing??Also, how is everyone asking their letter of rec writers for the letters?? Because each schools asks for a specific letter, so I was afraid of asking for 10 different letters to be written...

It's like you are in my head right now -- I was just wondering this very thing!

Next year I will be applying to University of Missouri, St. Louis University, and Cox University for their Accelerated BSN program.I wish they offered it here in Chicago, but it seems that the Accelerated BSN program is a fading program.....

Are you sure? When I was looking at schools I remember that Loyola and Rush both offered highly regarded accelerated BSN programs (although they're supposed to be both intense and competititve). And I think there were at least two others in the area as well.

I'm applying to Samuel Merritt's ABSN program as well as their ELMSN program this winter.

OrindaMom,
Just out of curiosity, why are you applying to both? Is it as a backup? Is it easier to get into one over the other??
Also, do you know if you get into the accelerated BSN program, can you apply to the MSN for NP prior to the end of finishing up the BNS program? I was thinking about that as an alternative also but i was wondering if MSN programs require clinical working experiences when admitting an RN....
Why am I applying to both?
Basically because both appeal to me. I want to get my masters eventually, and it doesn't totally matter weather I do it in one step or two.
I guess my first choice is to do the three year masters all at once, but if I don't get in, then yes, I want to do the ABSN. So yes, I guess it is a bit of a back-up.
And I *think* the absn is a bit easier to get into, but I'm not sure.

Hi Orindamom,
Yes, I think the ABSN program is a little "easier" because there are now more spots available since they opened the SF and the peninsula locations. My former classmate got into the ELMSN FNP program for this fall and she said there were 300 applicants, 75 interviewed and 25 spots.

Hi y'all,
This is my first post on this forum. I am applying to Frankford Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia. I live in this area and it's a diploma program but I can get my ADN from Penn State Abington and also matriculate toward my bachelor's degree from Thomas Jefferson University with another 9 months of courses.
I applied at my local CC but they gave me the run around because I transferred most of my courses in from my home state and since I didn't take the classes at their school, my classes were inferior to theirs. 3 years of my life wasted...anyway, I retook all of those classes I took at the other schools and now have a 3.875 GPA (All A's and one B and 33 credit hours).
Sincerely,
B
Hey everyone,
Regarding Samuel Merritt's ABSN program, yes, I've been told by their admissions people exactly that. They have four campuses now, which accept more people at just one campus than the the ELMNS program does, so that alone makes it easier to get into. I'm applying to the ELMNS program, but if I don't get in, will apply to the ABSN program as well, since like OrindaMom, I don't care if I do it in one step or two! I want to be an NP, so will get there when I get there! :-)
