  1. Hi, I actually have my first class tomorrow, so I will let you know how it goes. Orientation went smoothly and its seems like a really good atmosphere. Andrea
  2. Don't feel bad, I tip my hat to you for taking these two hard, time consuming classes together. I am currently taking Micro online and its been a struggle for me also. I find the material interesting, and I am doing better in some chapters than others, the ones so far that have been particularly challenging for me have been genetics chapter and metabolism. I am trying not to stress out too much about it and just try my best. Doing this class online has been a challenge in itself, as I don't really have anyone to consult with if I do not understand something, and the labs are interesting but very time consuming to do them on my own. I am taking a nutrition class also, I thought it would be a breeze but its also alot of material and studying. I have been accepted into nursing school for the spring, pending I pass these two classes. Don't stress, you will do fine. And one class should not be the deciding factor for getting into nursing school.
  3. I live near Fordham Road and even though I'm about 15-20 blocks away I'm familiar with the area. Like a previous poster said before it isn't the worst area nor the best. The D train is close by and it seems the area is well lit and the grand concourse for the most part always has people around. I wouldn't worry too much. Good Luck
  4. I am taking Micro and Nutrition both online this fall also. And I am beyond nervous. I really want to do well in both classes.
  5. Congratulations!!!:balloons: Wishing you the best of luck in nursing school. The hard work is starting pay off. :monkeydance:
  6. You can do it!!! Just make the most use of your time. I have a 15 month old and a 5 year old. What works for me, is to get the kids on a schedule. I also work full time, and will be taking classes this semester Micro and Nutrition. What has worked for me before is to bring my books to work, study for an hour while I eat my lunch. Go home spend time with the kids after work, put the 15 month old to sleep at 7:45 with limited naps during the day and she sleeps till about 10 pm, wakes up for milk and goes back down till 6:45 am. Yes she gets up early but it gives me from about 7:45 - 11 pm of study time. The 5 year old doesnt give me much of a problem but he also goes to bed at 8. Its definately do able. And my husband has hectic schedule also he's a police officer.
  7. I have taken AP I and AP II fully online, the lab is virtual with a cd simulates what it would be to do lab in the classroom. I will also be taking micro in the fall and its also fully online. No meeting in the classroom at all.
  8. I have applied for the sping 08 semester and I was told we would probably hear something by either October or November. I am scheduled to take my NET late September, hopefully I'll do well. I am extremely nervous about it.
  9. I am applying to Dorothea Hopfer in Mount Vernon, NY. I am quite nervous as I only applied to this one school, because I need programs that are offered in the evening/weekend, because I cannot afford not to work a day job. Its a two year ADN program.
  10. I am so happy for you congratulations. I just recently started posting and ran across your thread over the weekend. I came on today various times just to check your update. Good Luck in nursing school, and celebrate. :balloons:
  11. Don't worry its a very easy procedure, I had it done a year ago, they did keyhole incisions and I recuperated in about 2 weeks. The pain from the stones is much worse than the surgery. My procedure was outpatient.
  12. Hi all, I called the school I am applying to and they told me they give the written version of the NET and that it has a math, reading, grammer and science portion. I know what to expect and study for the math and reading but what about the grammer and science? Apparently the minimum score required is 55% composite score but they take the highest scores first. There are also three other parts but she didnt mention what they were. I'm worried already and the test is amonth away. Please help
  13. I am a mom of 2. I have a 5 year old and a 1 year old. I will be taking Micro and Nutrition this fall semester. I know this will take alot from me, but I need to get these classes done with good grades. It can be done.
  14. Hi guys, I am pretty new here this is only my second post. I will be taking Micro and Nutrition this fall. I just applied to ADN program and hopefully I will get into the Spring evening and weekend program. I'm very worried about Micro.
  15. Hi all, I'm new to the forum and wanted to opinions. I am 26 and have been out of highschool for about 9 years. I was a great student in highschool, honor roll etc. I went into college after highschool and partied and failed classes. I left the school I was in and later returned to college and did well but then went through some personal problems and again did bad in school, when I say bad basically what happened is I left the school didn't withdraw properly from the semester and received all Fs which is why my gpa is at 1.85. Within this time I have had two children a five year old and one year old. I always new I wanted to get into nursing, I love the medical field but just thought it was impossible for me to do. Which such a bad gpa/history is it impossible to get into a school? I have taken some pre reqs such as AP I and II, I got an A- and a C. I also took Developmental Psy I got and A, Enlish B and Sociology A. I'm stuck i guess because I wanna try but Im scared no one will take me. Plus I need an evening program because I have to work. I am nerve wrecked about the NLNs they seem a little difficult because I have been out of highschool so long. Do I stand a chance?
