What does your school do for Halloween?

Our school is in an urban area where at least 30-40% of our families do NOT celebrate Halloween. Instead, this coming Friday we are having a Fall Carnival. The kids who participate can wear their costumes to school for the day (no masks or accessories allowed). We will have two classrooms for those kids who do not celebrate (they will all be wearing their usual school uniforms that day). All kids will participate in fun crafts, snacks, and Fall-themes activities. On Monday (actual Halloween) it will just be a normal day here. Not looking forward to Tuesday when they all bring candy to school (very strict anti-candy policy here) and I have to tell them to put it away...

Nothing...my district hasn't allowed anything for Halloween in years.

The parents here would birth a bovine if their little snowflakes didn't get to wear costumes!

For years all the classrooms had parties with optional costumes. Now we have become a very PC school and do nothing. This, of course will not prevent currents of craziness on Monday as the trick or treat anticipation builds inside their sugar craving little bodies. I will also not mitigate the number of belly aches on Tuesday due to over consumption of carbolicious crap.

My district kind of lets each school decide. Some do a fall festival, others let the kids dress up on Halloween. (No clowns this year, of course!) The grade school my daughter attends is letting them dress up, and my sons' middle school is having a 7th grade Halloween dance this Friday. Which he was asked to go to....by a girl. :nailbiting:

Awww!

We also have a Halloween dance for our 5th and 6th graders. It is both the cutest and most awkward thing to witness :).

On Friday, each elementary class will have its own Halloween party and be able to wear their costumes (no props or masks). They are also having a bowling party as part of a quarter reward for behavior. Staff will probably dress up too. Monday will be a normal day. Our Jr/Sr high have been having a hallway decorating contest, so the halls kind of look like a haunted house!

We will have costumes and parties and parades all day Monday. Definitely not PC here.

Halloween hasn't been celebrated in my district for at least 10 years, probably more. They don't even say the word Halloween, they said "special holiday" during announcements. It's ridiculous.

What is the point of that? It's not a religious holiday or sanctioned by any specific group... as far as I know

We have a half day at the elementary schools. So it's basically the Halloween Parade and classroom parties.

Who knows. The way we as a society are babied is absurd.

We have book character day. Specific rules - nothing scary and must bring the book they are in character for. The staff dresses up as well in group themes.
