What do you pick for breakfast?

Published

Everyday I wake up at 6am in order to prepare my self for hospital training ,I've tried deferential kinds of food that i thought its going to refresh me but i didn't find until now ... I wonder what kind of food do you have for breakfast one that gives you power through the day?

thanks:)

Weetabix with milk. Or mini-wheats. Either of those will last me nearly 8 hours without needing a snack. I have also bought some of those Jimmy Dean sausage, egg and cheese croissants. They are tasty and good for mornings when I can't manage the 5 minutes a bowl of cereal will take. I microwave them for a minute or so, then eat while walking out the door.

I second the Mini Wheats! Orange Juice and Banana to go with it. Keeps me full for at least 5 hours :)

My breakfast of champions you ask? Diet dr pepper and cigarettes... unhealthy and I know it... but whatever works right?

I boil some eggs the night before, shell them and put them in ziploc bags with a sprinkle of salt. When I am on the way out the door, I just grab the bag and eat my eggs on the way to work.

I also keep a jar of peanut butter in my locker. When I feel run down and know that I won't be able to get lunch at a reasonable hour, I take a couple of scoops of peanut butter and I am not hungry until dinnertime.

I know this sounds totally gross, but a friend of mine from India told me about this. Take a can of tuna or salmon, mix in some walnuts or almonds, lightly salt and pepper the mixture, and you have yourself a protein rich breakfast! It's actually quite tasty.

Usually a bagel with cream cheese. I prefer cinnamon raisin or blueberry. I always keep some sort of snack with me just incase I can't make it to lunch.

Agree with the others regarding Ensure -- it is super convenient to drink while driving to work. I like to switch it up with Boost, but noticed that there's a LOT of sugar in Boost/Ensure (take a look at the Boost nutrition label - water/sugar/corn syrup are the top 3 ingredients) so I will often go with the general weight loss or generic nutritional drinks instead which are all pretty healthy. The convenience really can't be beat.

Been stuck on this one for the past week! And I'm a person that has to force myself to eat breakfast, I'm usually not hungry right when I wake up but I know I need to eat something or else I'll be ravenous later.

Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal Smoothie (serves two)

- 2 bananas, sliced and frozen (I slice them thin so it's not so hard on my blender)

- 1/4 cup rolled oats

- 1/4 cup peanut butter (I use all natural peanut butter, the kind you have to stir and has no hydrogenated oils or added salt/sugar)

- 3/4 cup milk (I use almond or soy milk as I'm lactose intolerant)

- drizzle of honey

Put oats in the blender and blend until they're powdery. Add the remaining ingredients and blend until there are no more chunks of frozen banana. Garnish with fresh banana slices if desired.

Super fast, super easy to make and incredible yummy! Keeps me satiated and energized for a long time. About to start my last semester of nursing school and this will definitely be a staple meal!

Other items I like for breakfast besides a good cup of joe:

- Fat free or 2% Fage greek yogurt mixed with some fresh fruit

- 2 hardboiled eggs (I don't eat the yolk)

- A bowl of whole wheat flakes with blueberry flax granola (I get these at the bulk food section at Whole Foods) and some soy or almond milk

- Egg white omelet with mushrooms, bell peppers, onions and a sprinkle of cheddar cheese

- Whole wheat tortilla wrap, all natural peanut butter, sliced bananas, drizzle of honey

- Steel cut oatmeal with a pinch of brown sugar, cinnamon and dried cranberries

- Bran muffin

What's breakfast? :uhoh21:

No, but really, I should start having breakfast, as it's so vitally important... I just hate the idea of eating things in the early morning >.

My stepmother swears by a banana, lowfat milk, and Kashi Go Lean crunch though, if that helps any!

COFFEE!!! Yogurt, fruit and a boiled egg. Boring but gets me energetic to power out quick cases in the O.R.

Only just started eating breakast after years of not bothering. Low fat cheese on hot toast - it's great! Could never face food in the morning but it does make a difference - usually not flagging by 9am! tried the ensure but omg - thought it was foul!

I've been doing greek yogurt with granola and fruit. With water and followed by coffee. I find that this is fast and easy and keeps me fuller than cereal. Cereal and oatmeal would leave me starving by 9 am.

Occasionally I will do toast with peanut butter too.
